Typically you will hear a popping sound when the bass hits, or you may not have any sound at all.......If the sub sounds good then your ok.

On a side note, pulling on the cone while the sub is in operation can damage the unit because it cannot move freely under load

Speaker wont work

It could be a number of things that tend to cause this sort if thing. Usually if its been submerged in water the wires can start to get a bit funny and it will happen with all speakers you try to put in I suggest taking it to a phone doctor and have them repair it or maybe give your provider a call see if you can get a replacement.

Recently there is a lot of scratchy noise coming from an engine of my 2003 V-max when I rev it above 3000 rpm. It goes away when the clutch is pulled. Everything is functioning just fine, except that noise...

If noise goes away when clutch is pulled then it is a loose clutch basket, you need to replace clutch basket and clutch,They make complete replacment kits. Its not a big deal but I would stop riding it till you replace worn parts.Running it the way it is will result in a blown clutch and could do more damage. If you have some mechanical ability you can change this yourself.Good Luck Brian.....

One of my speakers is making a scratching noise when both the positive and negative leads are plugged in. both the cabinet and amplifier are parallel. I've cleaned the whole thing in and out and it's still...

having only one speaker that sounds scracthy tells me that one or more of your drivers are blown, the tweeter, midrange or full range drivers (speakers). have you swapped the leads @ the amplifier to see if the scratchy sound moves to the other speaker? if it does, your problem starts before in the pre-amp stage. if it is the same speaker you can isolate the problem by swapping indiviual drivers with the good speaker, or you can cover individual drivers to determine where the scratcy sound is coming from. it could be the surround ( the rubber or butyl material that attaches the cone to the frame) is rotted from age. which can be replaced

Speaker has scrachy sound was it just overpowered, does not make much noise when you push in on the speaker?

A scratchy sound may indicate that your speaker is clipping, or worse, blown. Make sure you are not running too much power to the speaker, or you run the risk of destroying your subwoofer. Reduce the power and see if the scratchy noise has gone away. If not, you may have damaged your voice coils by putting too much power through the speaker.

Scratchy sound from one hifi speaker

Determine if the noise is only from one driver. If it is gently press all over with your fingers on the cone, so it moves up and down. If it makes the noise then then the cone is catching inside the housing. You will need a new unit if that is the case.
Before you do any of the above swap the speaker with another so you know it's not the amp causing the noise.
If the whole speaker makes the noise and it's not the amp, then it will be a fault on the crossover inside the speaker.

Daewoo speakers doesnt work

i wouldnt think they are blown if they start to sound "great" after you messed with the stereo.

but to be sure they are not blown, gently push on the cone down. if it moves very soft then that means the speaker is ok.
if it moves a bit too hard.. that means it might be bad
if it moves a bit hard and theres a "scratchy" feeling while pushing the cone down.. that means the coil is blown. this can happen due to too much bass/distorted signal for a long time.

but my guess will be a loose wire connection at the speaker. make sure they are tightly in, clean, and no dirt/oil on them.

Blown solobaric?

how did he messed up? anyways, if u push the cone of the sub down and u hear a sound like "TUN!" its most likely ur sub is irremediably damaged. The cone needs to come up perfectly as a good sub would do. I need to know exactly what ur friend did b.c it is quite weird to mess a good sub by slightly switching cables
