Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S149 Notebook
Have you seen if the power plug on the laptop is firm or wiggly? M35s are known for having a poor solder joint on the power plug, so laptops randomly shut down or cannot charge the battery etc. To repair this issue you may need to open the laptop and resolder the power plug. It's not a difficult process and can be done in less than an hour. The great thing about the fix is that you don't need to spend any money on new components. I've writen out a Toshiba m35 motherboard repair tutorial for this and another problem I had with my m35 and it seems people find it quite useful so you may want to check it out.

This could be the power inverter. It has happened to a few people I know. First off I don't think you should have the battery out. I think the power distribution function needs the battery in to complete it's component structure. Next, don't leave your laptop on a cushy surface (bed, pillow, couch, etc.) This blocks the fresh air intake for the processor. When the processor heats up, the unit will shut off. Repeating this will eventually toast your laptop altogether. Make sure no dust has built up on either the intake (bottom) or output (side). Use a can of compressed air to clear the unit. UNPLUG and REMOVE BATT First!
If all is clear and it's still happening it very well could be the power inverter, it's about 60 bucks and you can do it yourself. You may find it cheaper on ebay or something. You will need the actual part number off the inverter. Google "Replacing power inverter for toshiba" for more info. Hope this helps!

It is located on the mother board, under the keyboard.... It is the size of a quarter.... and may be soldered in on your Satellite M35x series machine.

this sound like there is a short in your soldering, did you solder the port directly onto the motherboard. just go over all the joints and make sure there is no shorts
