You shouldnt need to disassemble the whole laptop more than likely there will be a couple of screws holding it in on my laptop it had a small cd looking symbol etched into the plastic next to the screw i unscrewed that one and my dvd drive pulled right out
heres a link for a new dvd drive

My cd and dvd player is not working. i have a toshiba laptop with windows vista. please advise. thank you.

If by not working you mean that the drive physically works fine, will eject and stays closed when you put a disk in, but does not read the disk or gives errors when it tries, then a simple cleaning could be enough to revive it. A lens cleaning cd is easy enough to find at any local department store and running this in the drive should take care of any problems reading disks unless the disks themselves are damaged.

If however you meant that the drive doesn't respond to eject requests, either when pressing the button, or choosing "eject" in windows, then the hardware itself is at fault and will need to be replaced. The drive is easy to swap out with a replacement or you could even get a portable external drive and only connect it when you actually need to use the disk. Also if the cleaning suggested above doesn't help, and you are sure the disks you are trying are not dirty or scratched to heavily on the bottom, then a replacement drive would also be in order.

What is the easiest way to remove hard drive from a Gateway T 6313??

I have a Gateway 7510GX. Turn the laptop over. On the side closest to you should be a cover that is held in place w/one or two screws. Reomve this cover and the hard drive should be underneath it. One screw is all that is holding the hard drive tray and the hard drive in place. Remove the screw and gently wiggle the tray loose. There are probably four screws holding the hard drive into the tray. Replacement is the opposite of removal.

I need to replace the keyboard.

You ma by able to take the PC apart yourself.I believe most are put together the same way.I am not sure tho.I would start by taking out all the screws from the bottom and then place them in order next to the PC so you can put them back where they go again.I have recently just taken a laptop apart for the first time and it wasn't that hard.Just had to take out allot of screws and remember where they went back in.Once you have the laptop apart you'll see where everything is connected.Just take your time and you'll be fine.Where the keyboard connects to the board is a little tricky. On mine there is a clip that locks. It's long and kind of flat and I couldn't figure out how to lock it or unlock it but I did eventually.

Gateway 7510GX CPU Fan noise

If this is a brand new laptop it would be still under warranty.
I suggest returning it to the supplier for repair under warranty because if you attempt to repair it you could void your warranty.
You should only attempt repairs after the warranty has expired.

Disassembly

You didn't explain why you are taking it apart, but the two main reasons are Hard Disk drive Replacement
& memory (RAM) Replacement
The chassis of the computer is built sort of like the frame of a car
so I will detail how to do the two operations below

Hard Disk drive for 7510GX Laptop:

  1. Back up any data you want to transfer to the new hard drive.
  2. Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
  3. Shut down the computer, and then disconnect the power adapter.
  4. Disconnect the modem and network cables.
  5. Turn the computer over, and then remove the battery.

    1. Slide the battery lock to the unlock position.
    2. Slide the battery release latch.
    3. Lift the battery out of the bay.

  6. Remove the hard drive kit screw.

  7. Slide the hard drive kit out if the computer.
    350191577.jpg
  8. If your new hard drive already includes the hard drive kit bracket, go to step 13. – OR –

Adding or Replacing Memory Modules

  1. Shut down the computer, and then disconnect the power adapter and modem and network cables.
  2. Turn the computer over, and then remove the battery.
  3. Loosen the memory bay cover screw.
    350191564.jpg
  4. Remove the memory bay cover.
    350191565.jpg
  5. To remove a memory module, locate the two clips on each side of a memory module, and then slowly press outward on the two clips at the same until the module tilts upward.
    350191567.jpg
  6. Pull the memory module out of the slot.
    350191569.jpg
  7. Hold the new or replacement module at a 30-degree angle and press it into the empty memory slot. This module is keyed so that it can only be inserted in one direction. If the module does not fit, verify that the notch in the module lines up with the tab in the memory bay.
    350191572.jpg
  8. Gently push down on the SO-DIMM and make sure that the two clips on each side of the SO–DIMM click into place.
    350191573.jpg
  9. Replace the memory bay cover.
    350191574.jpg
  10. Replace the memory bay cover screw.
If you need to do something further, write back.
I hope that helps :)
