Question about Linksys PCMCIA Network Card PCMPC100 Network Adapter

Open Question

Difficulty inserting Linksys 10/100 PC Card

My card will not go into the slot of my IBM Thinkpad X20. I looked into the slot with a flashlight and can see a black wire cris-crossing the width of the slot right in front of the prongs, keeping the card from connecting. I have tried to gently move the wire up and down with a knife, but it won't move at either end. Windows 98 and rather old computer, but it works well and have had no problems with it to date.

It sounds like you may have a band PCMCIA slot. Have you attempted to use any other expansion cards in it to test this theory?

SOURCE: wmp54gv4 pci driver will not install.

Are you using the latest Ralink driver www.ralinktech.com , and, from the docs they provide, they indicate -

Ralink RT61 and RT2500 series miniport drivers require NDIS 5.0, NDIS 5.1 or NDIS 6.0 to operate in Microsoft Windows. NOTE: UNINSTALL OEM PROVIDED PACKAGE BEFORE RUNNING THIS RALINK PACKAGE.

Confrim these instructions have been followed.

You can also contact them.

Sorry I can't provide an exact solution, but this should get you on track, and it's the type of problem that likely only Ralink knows about, if at all.

Unfortunately, WMP54GX4 is not compatible with Win 7.

You may refer to this link for compatible list of devices.

Once you have a device compatible with Win 7, you may refer to this link for the instructions to manually install the drivers.

Hope this helps!

Does IBM THINKPAD type 2652 1.8GHs has wifi cards

This particular model don't have a built in wireless card on it , it only has a Integrated Network Card for wired connection .

So if you want to make this laptop work wireless you need to get a wireless adapter like this adapter from Linksys WPC54G or WUSB54GC so this laptop can be use wirelessly.

Hi, If you are talking about the Boot, HDD, Bios password, then the only one way to recover it is to implement a chip on the systemboard to shorcut the protection or to contact Lenovo for a systemboard replacement. Unfortunalty, no other ways other round. Thanks and have a nice day J-

We can't get our IBM T30 to connect with our Linksys router . The computer has a 3com wireless card

Has the Wireless card ever worked attached to another wireless router?

Is the card an internal miniPCI card, and is it an official IBM card for your region? Thinkpads check whether the card is for the correct region before configuring them in the Windows drivers.

Are you using the Thinkpad Assistant Wireless tool. I have found that it appears to be impossible to configure this software for 64 bit WEP or WPA PSK authentication.

Need instructions how to install wireless card

If you are installing an external wireless card, there should be a set of instructions that came with the card. Those should be your guidelines.
If you got one from a friend/neighbor, follow these steps:
1) Insert the card into the PCMIA slot 2) Let the computer recognize there is a new hardware.
3) download the driver from the cd, or go to its manufacturer's website to download the driver for the wireless card. If it is Linksys, go to linksys.com, belkin, belkin.com, etc.
After that, the card and windows should automatically detect your network settings, and you can enjoy the internet from there

Thinkpad 380ed + USB PCMCIA-card. Can it work?

This is probably due to the power requirements of the pcmcia card you have plugged in. There are 5volt and 3.3volt slots. You have probably plugged a 5volt card into a 3.3volt pcmcia slot.
