I am having the same problem (except with the Magenta tank) and I am beginning to think it is a hardware problem. I have tried all of the following: reset the printer cleared the memory reinstalled the tank reinstalled a tank I knew worked jebss32 perhaps we should start trying to deal directly with Canon.

SOURCE: Ink Level
The obvious solution is to buy Canon ink cartridges. If you don't care about an accurate readout, buy cheaper cartridges and swap the chips. I'd suggest keeping spares on hand and change them when one color stops printing.

if you have been using this for sometime chances are you are getting a wrong indicator on your screen, sometimes it is not as accurate as supposedly. kindly check the number of prints you made before. i suspect that you are actually runing out on ink
and might need to replace the affected color.

This usually happens when you are using aftermarket inks. The sensors on the cartridges are not always up to specs. The problem does not occur on OEM cartridges.
Sometimes you can remove and reseat the same cartridge and the printer will resume. If the problem persists after trying the remove and reseat procedure, the cartridge should be replaced and the defective cartridge discarded.
If you are near an office supply that rebates for old cartridges and you are reloading your own cartridges, take the old cartridge in and replace it with an OEM cartridge so the problem doesn't repeat.
Hope this helps.
