Definately try to ping it. If you can ping it, then your raw port, usually 9100 has probably been changed. Set the configuation to print LPR with a queue name of HP1. Access this by highlighting the printer, right clicking it, select properties, select port, and select configure port.
Also be sure that the IP address is correct.

I have seen some reports of this problem, but I don't know of a definite 'cure", Seems like you've tried the obvious stuff already. My question would be, are you using PCL 5e, or PCL6 driver? The PCL 5e is the most compatible driver, and I know I have had a few strange things happen on different models using the PCL 6. It could just be a glitch in the driver, but I'd try the 5e just the same....that's my 2 cents worth.
For simplicity, you can download it here:
Please rate me if it helps :)

seems a case of carriage jam n needs servicing..
howevr, do it if ur printer is out of warranty and u r a professional..
check for loose/faulty carriage-belt and the drive-assembly..jammed/sticky cleanser-unit (esp the rubber, gears n base)..
also chance of defective/faulty photo/opto-coupler 'sensor(s)'..the diodes and resistors in dis section..
always better to hv professional supervision, contact ur system admin/vendor....
