Question about iRiver Clix Digital Media Player

IRiverClix dropped in water won't power on

I accidentally dropped an iRiverClix in water for a few seconds. After quickly fishing it out I dried it off as best as I could and plugged it into the computer with the USB cable. It seemed to be working. But when I disconnected from the computer the display didn't change from the 'USB Connected' message and further, it could not be powered down. The display stayed on with the "USB Connected" message until eventually it ran down and the screen went dark. If I plug it into the computer now the computer doesn't recognize it, i.e., nothing happens. I went through two months with iRiver support where they told me to reset the player and when that didn't help told me it was not covered by warranty and there is nothing they can do.

Hi,

Did you try contacting the place where you bought your unit from? Maybe they provide a repair service.

When electronics get wet, the best action is to dry them off, like you did. And then let the component sit, unplugged for a while (maybe days) until the water evaporates. By plugging it in and operating the unit before the internal components are dry causes the water to short the circuits. So, within reason, electronics can get wet, but can not operate wet.

If you have followed the routines to reset, restore, and/or get the unit back to an initial operating state and it doesn't work, then you'll have to have it repaired or buy a new one. Sorry, but having run the unit barely after it was wet was what put it in "crazy" mode.

Camera exposed to rain. Battery immediately removed and camera dried but it won't power up now. No obvious sign of water damage inside.

You have two ways to handle that.
First: (Just saying- if there is a water ''damage'' YOU CAN'T SEE IT.) So if you think you are professional in theese stuff you can take a screwdriver, open the camera and clean its parts.

Second: Take that to a real professional to fix it. (The minus is that you have to pay) And here we go:)

How To Quickly Repair Your Mobile Phone Dropped In Water

Now, there is no need to panic if your mobile phone gets dropped in water or you get stuck up in a bad rain and your clothes as well as your mobile phone gets wet. All you need to do is follow the following three tips that will fix your phone with water damage:-

(A) Act Quickly : straight away get into action and remove every cover and detachable part you possibly can like memory card, the SIM card, battery and back cover, etc. Now use a toilet paper or a thin cloth to blot away any excess water you can see inside of the phone and be sure to get as much as you can. Otherwise, all this water will start evaporating and collecting in hard to reach various places in your phone.
Your phone may work now if it was only submerged for a short period of time.

B) Quick Drying : Grab a hairdryer and start drying your phone paying extra attention to the battery housing as this normally has small holes which allow air (and ironically enough water) into the phone.

warning: Don’t hold the hair dryer too close to the phone. Keep it at a distance whereby if you put your hand in front of the hair dryer it would not burn you. Bringing it closer could damage your phone’s electrical components. If i am sounding serious, try putting a hair dryer up against a sheet of paper for a few seconds. It turns it brown – would you want that happening to the inside of your phone?

If 20-30 minutes of this doesn’t work – go to plan C.

C) Long Term Drying : By putting it in a warm dry place you allow the water to slowly evaporate and escape through the holes in the phone (remove the covers and battery when doing this).

A few drops of fruit juice got under the volume wheel and dried. Now the volume wheel won't turn easily. How do I get the volume wheel off to clean underneath?

Electrical contactsupply cleaner is best. You canto try drops of rubbing alcohol, which will clean the wheel and evaporate quickly. While you add the drop/s, turn the wheel.

I dropped my phone in water... And it won't turn

It's an electronic device so it would be very difficult if it'll fell in water. first remove its shell and then get a hair dryer and turn it to low. carefully blow dry the insides of your phone. if you are using an iphone it would be best to consult a phone tech.

I Dropped My Camera In The Water for a Few Seconds And I Tried To Turn it On And It Doesn't Work Its a Nixon Touch Camera

Hi, Sounds like you may have fried the camera by trying to turn it on, your best bet would be to put the camera in a bag of rice for a few days to see if that'll dry it out, if after that it won't work still the camera's unfortunately dead.

Are you supposed to put water in the water bowl every time you smoke meat?

Not necessarily. It depends on what you're smoking. Some meats require moisture or they will dry out. Pork is one that quickly comes to mind, as does white meat fish. However, something like beef jerky, no you do not need water. And then, there are times you can add flavor to meat by using a dark beer instead of water Really good for smoking Baby Back Ribs.. The beer should be at room temperature before using.

There are some great websites that great smoking recipes. Just do a Google search for smoking meat, pork fish, etc. Or search for "How to use a smoker."

Hope this helps you come up with some great smoke food.

I have a 1980 evinrude outboard motor. It is overheating. We have changed out the water pump, took the thermostat out and checked it, it works fine. What else could it be?

I could possibly give you a better explanation if I knew the horse power of the outboard. However hear is what happens to most "tiller" operated outboards. Water pumps are made from a pliable soft rubber which by the way needs water to lubricate it even if you just crank it over to check something, or fire it up for a few seconds on a dry impeller will destroy it. Most often a few pieces will fly off and enter the water cooling system and then lodge in one of the small passage ways blocking water flow. When a new impeller is installed the engine runs pumps water and overheats.

Flash stuck on LG VX6100

If it survived one dunking it will most liklet survive a second SOOOOO. I am into R/C stuff and when our gear gets dunked we rinse it out with ultra pure water, Deionised/distilled water if you can get it. I think that the detergent in the washing machine may have left a residue and be affecting your electronics so if you wash it carefully in distilled water (yep dunk it again, crack it open and wash it all inside)to get rid of the detergent residue on the board (note REMOVE BATTERY). Afterwards dunk it in methylated spirits (test to make sure it wont affect any plastic parts first)to remove the water and leave to dry in a warm spot for a day at least. 2 years ago I dropped a $500 transmitter in a dirty dam (Acid /fuel/road runoff)and did exactly this and its been fine ever since. Worked the next day in fact. Its not a mobile phone but its always worth a chance. Once you've finished you may want to take it apart after you've tested it if its going and spray the board with CRC 226 circuit cleaner and water repeller. I've got it on all of my R/C gear and it gets regularly soaked for up to 1hr at a time in muddy water and is all fine.
