And to top it all off, it is part of a 3 component unit. The convection oven and warming over work fine - but the microwave burned itself beyond repair. So we looked into getting a replacement microwave - that was the whole reason we bought the Thermador - you could replace each component separately - but they no longer make that microwave, and there is no replacement. Well, from what I can tell, the reason they no longer make it is it was defective. So now they expect me to buy a completely new 3 component unit!!! But wait, it gets better - the replacement unit is a different size, so we will have to modify our cabinets or buy new ones!!!
And Thermador has terrible customer support - "Manager" Julie (and I use manager loosely) was rude and could not understand why I was upset.
I am concerned about looking for a replacement MBBS/01, as it will have the same issues, but don't want to have to redo my cabinets and buy a new unit that won't match the oven in the pantry!
Anyone else have suggestions? This has to be some kind of safety issue as well.
You may want to look into the possibility of a "panasonic" (specifically a "genius" model) microwave unit that should fit there nicely. most of those Thermador 3 component units had the m/w built by panasonic. (though you'll not get them to tell you that)
I'd like to add, I find it unlikely your's is "burned beyond repair". what is the problem, if you'd care to elaborate. Perhaps your m/w can be saved, or revived.

I've been told they no longer manufacture replacement parts for my 6year old Thermador Combination Oven Model SMW272ZP. The microwave has crapped out and I would like to find a new matching microwave to fit the same opening. Any thoughts other than just checking dimensions on the internet and crossing my fingers that what I might find will really fit? Thermador offers no help!!!
