IFP-790 is an iFP-700 series player.
The device has connection type UMS = Universal Mass Storage.
See next page:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0300
and select Connection .

The problem is that the device can only connect when the computer is told to use the USB port using this connection type.
Sometimes UMC is also called MSC = Mass Storage Class.
The computer will see the device as a removable storage. Transfers of data can take place using Windows Explorer ( to the corresponding media map).

Opposite to previous connection type there is MTP = Media Transfer Protocol. The computer needs an extra software program like Windows
Media Player or Media Transfer Software from the players' manufacturer to make adequate transfers.

When you experience next making connection:
Connecting the device to the computer Wizard found new hardware pops up.
Only this time the Windows update searching for software will not work on automatic routine:
ending up with "Cannot Install this Hardware".

Solution:
Manual performing the wizard, setting the device to USB connection type:
1. Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software ?
Select "No, not this time".
[Next]
2. If your hardware came with an installation CD, or floppy disk, insert it now.
Select "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)."
[Next]
3. Please use your search and installations options.
Select "Don't search I will choose the driver to install."
[Next]
4. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware.
Select "USB Mass Storage Device."
[Finish]

    update

The IFP-series can switch from UMS to Manager connection type.
For Manager type connection the iriver music manager must be downloaded and installed.

    Go to the support site:
    http://www.iriver.com/index.asp

Select Support in the first column.
    Download in the second column.
Enter the phrase 'music manager' and click GO:
download 'iriver music manager (Ver 3.21)' [ 28 MB].

Hi there I am by far computer savvy so would you be able to tell me if this will work for me. I have the TV2PC software kit & I'd like to install it to my laptop which has Windows Xp &

Usually the softwares have written details located at an area either as materials when acquired or on the disk rom device stating the compartibility to computers or devices. Once sure the computer is windows XP, then observe the software program to ascertain that the disk is compartible. usually disk programs that are least demarkated for compartibilities when inserted in the compuer disk driver area would either function or provide the details of incompartiblities or requirign another program in preference to achieve results.

Hi,

Your camera should show up as removable drive when connected to your laptop.

Cant` load disc`s

For that you need to set first boot device as cd/dvd rom in bios.
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or aLT+F2 key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dv rom then save settings and exit from bios.
Then it will boot with windows disk.
If it still not boot then make sure your cd/dvd rom and windows disk is perfect.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I was recently

Remove the drive by turning the computer upside down and take the screw out between the battery and the memory cover (next to a padlock symbol). Insert the screw driver into the little notch in the plate next to where the screw was and slide it towards the drive. The drive should now pop out. Boot the computer. Shut the computer down and reinsert the drive and reboot.

My computer doesn't reconize my mp3

check if your usb cord if defective.

To check if the mp3 is recognized by the computer go to device manager in the compuer properties.

Go to device manager go to hardware tab and search for new hardware, if you see a question mark in the usb port it means that the computer cant recognize it and you may need a driver. Some mp3 have cd installer of its software. Install it in your computer. and try if the computer can recognize it.

also check if your usb port is working properly...
