Question about Canon ZR90 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

No image The camcorder was working perfectly well until one day when trying to record no image appeared on the screen and does not record immage, only sound. The playback however, shows a perfect image.

    In recording mode my camera showed only multi colored vertical lines. now it is just dark.The playback works fine.

    Thank you. I still have to contact Canon but I went to their web page and it seems that they will fix the problem.

    havnt used in a while but when i did the view is just colored lines no image?

    I can review anything but there is no image present to record. One minute it was working fine, the next nothing! I do however want to say that I have got a lot of great use out of my ZR90 and, aside from this problem, I would recommend it.

This was the fastest fix I have ever encountered.  Fired up my ZR90, no picture, no recorded image, only sound.  I googled "canon ZR90 problems", found this site, called the number, and my camcorder is now getting an all expense paid trip back to the factory.  I think the longest part was waiting for someone at canon to pick up, and that was about 5 minutes.  Thanks a lot!

No image on LCD screen


It sounds like you're receiving partial information on the LCD screen and that the image sensor isn't sending information to the screen.

If you know the sensor is working by recording some video on an SD card and being able to view the recorded video on your PC, then there is a disconnect between the LCD and the image sensor.

If you are not recording video to your SD card and only get black images or no files, the image sensor is damaged.

If you are recording video, but no image appears on your LCD for internal viewing/playback, you can try a firmware update if one is available from www.insigniaproducts.com, but this is a discontinued item so there's not much available for support.

Everthing seems to work, except the camera will not record.


Assume you have Sony DCR-HC20 camcorder and it does not show you live view to record, I hope camcorder is playing back old recorded tapes perfectly with good quality picture on its LCD.
If it is true then your camcorder has ccd imager chip failure and ccd imager needs to be replace to get live view in LCD monitor.
Qualified camera tech will replace ccd imager chip.

Lens Cap Error


You have a defective CCD imager - the part of the lens that receives the image. Will need to be replaced.

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC27E Camcorder which was working great until a few days ago. my problem is its suddenly not showing my recorded tapes, I was watching footage only a few days ago from my recent...


The gray strips usually mean the camera has dirt video heads - if it hasn't been dropped. Get a head-cleaning tape from Radio Shack or Best Buy, and run it a few times. If that doesn't do it, it'll have to be cleaned by a repair shop. Off brand tapes sometimes can cause this.

Nothing appears in view finder or on screen when recording


I HAD THIS PROBLEM ERROR CODE C31 : 22 WOULD COME UP AND TRV 118 CAM WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED EVERYTHING TILL ONE DAY I BANGED IT ON A CARPETED FLOOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAMCORDER 5 TIMES QUITE HARD. THEN THE CAM WORKED JUST FINE! MY CAM HADN'T WORKED FOR OVER 7 MONTHS. NOW I HAVE IT BACK. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

Recorded images has verticle lines


No, most camcorders doesn’t work when you recording the image directly on the screen, that means you use your camcorder shot directly to the screen. Maybe the frequency is different, I have tried used RC plugs directly connect to the VCR and recorded, it is much clear.

Blue screen on playback on Sony DCR-HC40


You can see an image in a camcorder viewfinder any time the camera's actually on in record mode, whether or not the camcorder is actually recording. So that's no guarantee.

Assuming the obvious (you have the right kind of tapes, they're not in write-protect mode, you rewind before playing, etc). I recommend that you borrow a tape of the same kind from someone else and check it on playback in your camcorder. This should lead you know understand if you have a playback problem or a recording problem.

Won't record/No picture thru the LCD screen or viewfinder in Record or Standby Mode


it is a common problem with them. sony has a recall on ccd imager for this model. call sony and they will fix it for free
