Keypad counts down; but no cooking

The microwave counts down.  But the fan doesn't come on and the table doesn't rotate.

I had to get a T20 tamperproof torx bit to remove the cover.  I replaced the fuse with a new 20 amp ceramic fuse.  I found the thermosensor and ran a paper clip across the two terminals.  When I hit the power button there was a huge spark on the paper clip and my circuit breaker in the house tripped.

I am guessing the thermosensor is bad.  However it doesn't seem like the wires to the thermosensor should be carrying that much power.

Thanks Bob.  I appreciate your consideration.  I will either get a pro to look at it or buy a new one if that seems cost effective.

J..first, I'd check the internal fuse on this unit. It sounds like it is blown. Alternatively, you might have blown a thermosensor if you don't have a fuse. Generally, they are found clamped in sheet metal attached to the side of the oven in the control area. They are usually the size of a dime in diameter and about 3/8 inch thick with two plug ins. With the power off, have a look at it using a tester. It should have continuity...if not replace it. No tester? Remove both plugs, and connect them using a paper clip and tape up. Plug in and try it. If it works...replace the sensor...never operate without one!

j...if the clip was not shorting to ground...the problem is likely in your power supply. That's why your fuse blew and the other stuff went on. I'm thinking that it could be either the capacitor or the power supply transformer. Diagnosing them can be a big deal. I suggest you stop work on the unit and get it to a pro or replace it.

Panasonic microwave is in a loop counting down from 90 secs over and over. Stop button is the only button that works but wont reset. Disconnecting didn't help. Now turned off to stop countdown beeping

Did it get wet recently?

Like from steam from the cooktop (always use the hood fan when cooking under the microwave)?

Or did someone spray cleaner directly on the keypad? (A big no-no - use a damp soft cloth instead)

The motor will not work. The interior light comes on, but the turntable does not go around. The cook time counts down, but no cooking occurs.

the turn table motor could have failed, but the counting down will be the monitor switch or a micro switch located behind control panel

Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

Frigidaire microwave doesn't work

Don't have a fix for your problem, but my Frigidaire microhood just did the exact same thing--about the same age, started cooking some food and it worked for a few minutes and then just stopped--time kept going, light stayed on, but turn table stopped and fan noise cut out. I tried it a few more times and it seemed to fade in and out and then stopped trying.

Same - the counter counts down, but doesn't cook.

Yes your door isnt aligning right when closed and the lower interlock isnt being made when shut. Look and see if where the door pivots if it is broke or sagging down.

Lights, fan,etc work but turntable does not rotate and oven does not cook.

Sounds like the table motor may have an issue. You might want to consult you local repair depot for an estimate. Sometimes the repairs are more than the appliance...beware!

Can't use the microwave at all

you have either a bad keypad or control board.

If you have operation of some buttons and not others its the keypad. if you have no operation out of the buttons at all you have a bad control board.

If you turn your microwave on and it sets and the timer counts down you have a bad interlock switch..

please let me know exactly what your microwave does when you set the cook time

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

Keypad only works

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

This can be caused by slamming the door or by habitually opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
