Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a Pixma 780 and all of a sudden while I was printing, it flashed on my computer printing error but nothing else - now it just so happened that I was out of paper so I reloaded thinking that was the problem but its still flashing check printer. I turned it on and off but that didn't help, and the cartridge carriage doesn"t move on its own. What could be the problem?

That machine won't tell you the problem until you enter service mode and set in a code. It could be the purge assy, the printhead, or just the waste ink absorber is full. A good shop will check it out and give you an estimate before repairs.

All of a sudden my MP500 gives an error code

If the carriage will come out of the right corner, you need to look inside and see if there's a paper scrap or anything blocking the purge assembly. The purge is the unit that cleans the printhead, and that error says it's not moving properly. If nothing is stuck in there, you will need to have the purge assembly replaced.

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.

5200 is saying the printhead got too hot, could be a shorted element, but you need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000 around $40.00

Pixma MP 780 suddenly printing VERY slowly

Are you using Windows?
If so clean out your temporary files and defrag the drive.
Printers in Windows spool the job to a temporary file and then retrieves it.If the temp folder is full or the drive is fragmented this will cause your issue.
