When engaging the PTO I have to force it in even

When engaging the PTO on my International 354 gas I have to force it in even with clutch totally pressed in. The grinding during the engage concerns me. Is there a chance that my clutch pedal needs to adjusted?

When engage pto notice that voltage on battery drain is that cause bad pto

Can be if its coil is partially shorted. These usually 5-7 amps current-wise.

Disconnect the pto clutch wire connector at the pto clutch assembly. Using multimeter do a ohms test on the engagement coil. If it reads less than 1.5 ohms then it is partially shorted.

I have seen clutches to work even pulling up to 15 amps when partially shorted which more than most small engine alternators can produce.

The pto will not engage when switch to turned on

The light just indicates power is available for the PTO clutch. It doesn't it reaching the clutch. You need to unplug the PTO clutch and check to see if voltage is there. If it is there then clutch itself is bad or the wiring from the connector to clutch is broken. If no power at the connector then you have wiring problem and may even have part of the PTO switch not working.

Ford 5000 pto

i believe the lever is on the left side that operates the pto. on some models it will have a plate stating its the pto, you'll have to start the tractor, and engage the clutch, then engage the pto, and release the clutch. Others you simply engage the pto once you've started the tractor

Why does my engine shut off after running for awhile with PTO engaged; will restart with PTO disengaged, but shuts off when i attempt to engage PTO?

Does this only happen when the engine is warm or at operating temperature or all the time even when cold? In older engines, a 'bad ignition coil' would fail when the engine warmed up and would not start again until cool or at ambient temperature.

Zero force 50 Cub Cadet runs fine , but when the mower deck switch is pulled , blades do not turn, does not engage

This would be one of a few different things, first check to make sure the belt is on properly and hasnt came off any pulleys, next check the clutch relay and fuse, next check the pto switch, and if all those check out, check the clutch for engagement, if it tries to engage with pto switch, then it may just need adjusted, if it doesn't try to engage, the clutch will need replaced, but check the other possible causes first.

PTO engages, but, keeps becoming disengaged on LT1042.

Cub Cadets have one of two types of PTOs. The most common is gear driven. The gear teeth of the PTO shaft are very small and thin. If the PTO is engaged without proper clutch action, the gear teeth grind together, trying to engage. A little wear on these gears will cause the surface of the gears to become beveled, and when the PTO comes under load, the beveled surfaces of the gear teeth force the gear lock to disengage. The only option is to replace the worn gears...

The second type of PTO drive is electric clutch. This is a disc type clutch that is engaged by energizing an electromagnet built into the clutch pack... any disruption of electrical power to the clutch pack while under load will cause the clutch to disengage and then possibly try to engage while under load and casues the clutch pack to slip and will overheat almost instantly...

The blades run all the time on my cub cadet 1042, even if the PTO is off

If your cub has an electric pto clutch it may be fused. Or the switch is stuck on. You can check the switch with multitester to see if its energized all the time. If not the clutch is probably fused. Which is cause for replacement. Adjustment only works with clutches that wont engage.

If you pto is mechanically engaged look for obstructions in the lever pathway. Also check for stuck idler pulleys.

Be careful and good luck!

Cub Cadet 1861 amp light comes on when the PTO is engaged and after mowing for a short time the PTO disengages and now the 30 amp fuse blows and stops the engine

Sounds like you have a short circuit, either in the PTO clutch, or in the wiring that goes to it. Inspect the wiring for any obvious spots where insulation has rubbed off or burned. Also look at the wiring at the back of the PTO engagement switch for these signs. Before buying an expensive PTO clutch, unplug its connector. Drive around with the PTO switch on (even though the PTO won't activate and the blades won't be engaged). If the fuse doesn't blow, the problem must be within the PTO clutch. If the fuse still blows, it must be in the PTO switch or the wiring from there to the clutch. Use an ohmmeter to trace and find the short. Good luck!
