Now I am assuming that the laptop came with Windows XP installed and you upgraded to Vista. The reason why it is telling you that is because microsoft has installed the windows verification tool and has found your version of Vista to be possibly pirated. The upgrade disc that you used for Vista...Did you buy it or did someone give it to you? Does the disc look authentic or is it a copy? The serial number that you used to install the upgrade might be stolen. I would contact the person you obtained the disc from or contact microsoft. They will provide you with a good serial number but you may need to pay for it. Now that it has been flagged as not being genuine you will not be able to get any new updates or service packs from microsoft. And after a certain amount of time it may shut the OS down.

Testimonial: "It was a new laptop with Vista installed. I installed the Office disks from a previous laptop (XP). These were multi user from a large IS support co"

Ok microsoft is letting you know that the office might not be genuine due to a verification update for office...You will still be able to use the program because it is a multi-computer license that is probably registered to a business. That message will continue to come up each time you use it but it won't shut down.

Did you reformat the entire hard drive when you installed Vista? If you formatted the recovery partition you won't be able to go back without a Xp installation disc.

I'm using vista home premium os, however the problem I enccounter is once you install software which is compatible for windows NT, xp home and windows 2000, the software the one I installed is not properly...

Yes, if you use a Virtual Machine, you can install the version of windows you wish to work with, install the software, and it should work just fine.
You will however need a genuine copy of windows to install in the virtual machine.
You may be able to find an image of the OS you need, or a snapshot of an OS, to load into the VM, it all depends on the type of VM you are going to use

Don't worry about filling anything out on this screen.
  13. Type your new, valid Windows XP product key in the New key: text boxes and then click the Update button.
  14. You should now reactivate Windows XP by following the instructions on the Activate Windows by phone window which you should now be seeing or via the Internet by clicking the Back button and following the instructions on that screen.
If you'd rather postpone activating Windows XP until a later date, you can click the Remind me later button.
  15. After activating Windows XP, you can verify that activation was successful by repeating steps 9 and 10 above.
The Windows Product Activation window that appears should say "Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit."

When i start my laptop .... an error occurs NTLDR MISSING.... PRESS ALT+CTRL+DEL to restart............. i also dont have a xp cd ....... will u please help me....????

well I've encounter that before, ok this is what you can do..

XP installer cannot solve the problem..

try to download trial version of widows 7 installer on microsoft website, once you ave it in cd or dvd,

just put it on your cd rom drive and have it start all over again, when prompted to boot on cd, click enter

install the windows 7 directly, after clean installation, then you'll find that your laptop is ok

it is up to you if you would like to keep the windows 7 as your OS or downgrade it to vista or xp.

beware that windows 7 still have a driver issue, but it is working.

if you gonna need genuine serial key, please contact us by subscribing as a premium member and I will provide you genuine serial key

Howdy, I'm Running vista 64 bit Home Premium. I downloaded the 1.05 version for vista from the alesis website. after installing it i get a "fstConnect.exe-Application Error. The Application failed to...

Use Add/Remove Programs to remove that '1.05' version.
Visit the ALESIS web-site, and click on "get support",
and tell them that the '1.05' version does not work with 64-bit Vista,
and ask them what they recommend.

please don't post product key numbers as they are personal and purchased by you; and likely to be used by people who install pirated versions of windows. If you are getting a pop up on boot up saying your copy of windows is not genuine, then you must take it back to the seller, or if it's second hand then the previous owner has installed the system using the incorrect product key. If your product key is genuine then do the following and use your product key. Click on Start and then Run. In the text box in the Run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the Registry Editor program. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder under My Computer and click on the (+) sign next the folder name to expand the folder. Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents registry key. Click on the WPAEvents folder. In the results that appear in the window on the right, locate OOBETimer. Right-click on the OOBETimer entry and choose Modify from the resulting menu. Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. This will deactivate Windows XP. Click on Start and then Run. In the text box in the Run window, type the following command and click OK. %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a When the Windows Product Activation window appears, choose Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows and then click Next. Click Change Product Key. Type your new, valid Windows XP product key in the New key text boxes and then click Update. If you're taken back to the previous screen and prompted, choose Remind me later. Restart your PC.
