Question about Compaq Presario Notebook
Ive had this laptop approx 15 months and just recently it has problems powering up. Have contacted HP and used all the remedy's for software problems and they all believe it is hardware. When the power button is pressed the laptop starts powering up and then stalls and shuts down again (this is before any logos etc come onto the screen) then resumes power up and this cycle can carry on between 15 mins to 1 hour before it finally gets past this stage and Windows boots up. While the computer is running there are no problems whatsoever, just during start up. It would be most appreciated if anyone could give me advice on what parts may need replacing.
The problem here is the BIOS - have currently got the same laptop, and same problem. What I do at the moment to keep the time of stalling down is by downloading WinFlash from the HP website and Flashing the BIOS. This somewhat helps, until you get the laptop fixed.

CPU or RAM may have took a dump.. Older Compaq 2100 and the ZE4K twins had a similar issue and it could be a BGA issue on one of the chipsets also.
