No defrost light, icing up on Dimplex DXDH20

There should be a timer that turns on the heaters for the defrost on a schedule, That does depend on the age of the product, many newer units use a logic board for defrost. It also is possible that the defrost heater its self is defective. there are several components to the defrost system the timer, heater, as well as a thermostat to stop defrost heat when the thermostat is satisfied

Where are the refrigerator fuses located for a Maytag msd2652keb

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

There are no fuses in refrigerators. Individual component failure acts a fuse.

You are locked into defrost.

PART NUMBER: 67004704 - Cost: $116.00
This is located in the upper right inside your control box.
This replacement adaptive defrost control board (part number 67004704) fits several models of side-by-side refrigerators. The adaptive defrost control board starts and stops defrost cycles as the temperature of the evaporator rises and falls instead of on a set schedule.
Shut off the circuit breaker for the refrigerator before beginning this repair. Also make sure you're well grounded (Rub hands on bare metal), because electronic components can be damaged by discharges of static electricity. The board installs behind the digital display in the control panel. Procedures for removing the existing adaptive defrost control board and installing the new one vary among models.

Need manual for timer dtsx-240-hc

More information is needed.
Review options below:

1) Add a comment and describe timer in detail for best possible answer.

2) DTSX timer appears to be older-style GE/Grasslin or Intermatic/Grasslin/Frost King defrost timer with selectable voltage and F 3 1 2 4 N X wiring terminals.
Open following links to identify timer and download possible manual

Additional resources explaining more about defrost timer operation:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#8145

3) Tork makes DTS series timers with 1, 2 and 4-channels:
Each channel can be programmed separately to control different loads with different on-off schedules.
Timer clock is 120Volts, but dry switch terminals can be wired to control any voltage load.

I have a Magic Chef compact fridge. There was a lot of ice build up in the freezer compartment. I attempted to defrost it last night, but I also tried to break away the ice before it was completely...

either the defrost heater element or defrost thermostat is open behind the rear wall where all the ice buildup was and is bad or the defrost timer in the front area isn't working to defrost the unit on a 12 hour schedule, you will need to test each component

Can i use the timer for a water headter to trun on and off

Paragon 8145-20 is a 240V defrost timer
It is probably not best choice for water heater timer
Timer initiates defrost cycles each 4 hours.

A water heater timer should have more scheduling options.
-For example estimates show average run-time for water heater is 3 hours per day, depending on incoming water temperature, thermostat setting, and number of gallons used.
-To save money using water heater timer, you have to schedule times carefully so water heater runs less than 3 hours per day.
-Now your average electric water heater heats about 20 gallons per hour.
-Average shower uses 4-9 gallons hot water, so water heater needs to run 15-30 minutes (15 summer, 30 winter)
-Average bath uses 12-15 gallons hot water so water heater runs 45-60 minutes
-But lets say you run water heater for 1 hour and make 20 gallons of hot water. Then you take a shower, expecting hot water to remain in tank.
-Here's the problem ... cold water entered the tank to replace the shower water ... and the new cold water is cooling the rest of the tank.
-So a timer means scheduling hot water to match shower and bath events. For example taking shower and bath in immediate succession.
-Or set the timer for each individual hot water event ... for example set timer for 1/2 hour for shower, and later timer turns on 1 hour for bath, or 1-1/2 hr for 2 baths, etc
-> The flexible programming described above is not a characteristic of defrost timers.
I suggest Intermatic WH-31 240V or Intermatic T-104 240V or GE 15207. These are mechanical repeat-24 hour timers with manual override where each day has same schedule.
Digital programmable timers like Intermatic EH40 offer 7-day, 40 event programming. Weekends and weekdays can be different.

I'm getting a defrost message on the door. Everything seems to be running fine.

That would indicate the refrigerator has tried to defrost, but not detected a flow of current through the defrost system. If your model has a glass tube type defrost heater, it is the most likely fault. If your model has a solid metal rod type heater, the most likely cause is a bad defrost termaination thermostat. In any case, if you ignore the problem, the coils will frost up and block air flow, resulting in poor cooling soon. Check it out now or schedule service as soon as possible. (you may have a week before cooling ability is severly affected)

it sounds like it could be the defrost timer/board hanging up in defrost periodically. this refrigerator has an adaptive defrost control board that acts like a defrost timer. it keeps track of how long it takes the freezer to defrost and schedules the time between defrost cycles accordingly (to save electricity). old defrost timers would go thru a defrost cycle every 12 hours whether it needed it or not. so i would suspect that this control board may be malfunctioning. the control board is item # 1036287 at repairclinic.com. you will need a repair technician to test it and make sure it is bad before spending $75 on it.

Your freezer section has a defrost system problem. A device (Timer) schedules defrosts, energizes electric heaters which melt the frost, when the temperature of the coil gets above the point where all ice is melted a thermostat opens cutting the electrical circuit for the heater(s). The defrost cycle continues until the time expires (18-22 minutes). Therefore your problem could be any one of the three elements. Timer, heater, or thermostat.
