Proper bike shops(or Halfords) will sell disc brake cleaner which is safe to use on hydraulic brakes.Spray lightly on both surfaces and wipe with a clean, lint free cloth. It also sharpens up the pads but if contaminated they have to be replaced.

How to replace front brake pads on a How to replace front brake pads on a 2000 Chevy S10 4WD pickup?

First you want to remove brake fluid from brake resovoir, raise front wheels off ground and set park brake or block rear wheels. Remove front wheels, keep steering wheel unlocked so you can turn rotors side to side. Loosen bolts that hold caliper end gently pry caliper free from rotor, remove caliper and remove pads, use bungy cord to hang caliper away from rotor, have rotors measured to see if they are thick enough to have machined, replace if out of specs. Match up pads with old ones, use anti- squeak red liquid and put layer on back of pads, let dry. Use tool to put pistons back into calipers, slowly put pistons back into bore while opening up bleeder screw so ABS won't be damaged. After rotors resurfaced, wash with rubbing alchohal to remove any oils from hands, install rotors and reverse putting pads back onto caliper and reinstall, torque caliper bolts to factory specs and tighten bleeder screws. Install wheels, torque lug nuts to factory specs and replace brake fluid in resovoir. Lower car carefully to ground and press brake peddle without pumping it. Any air in system should bleed out, if not get someone to help with bleeding system. Road test to ensure no squeaks or pulling, burn brakes in slowly.

Front brake rotors

Hello, raise the vehicle, support it with jack stands. After taking off the wheel remove the caliper upper and lower screws, than remove the caliper support and the rotor should come off.

Avid juicy ultimate, rear disc brake vibration and noise

It is a lose bolt somewhere, OR somebody has touched your rotor with their hands OR there is oil in the pads.

Check ALL your bolts for correct torque, buy new pads and Rubbing Alcohol and install them AFTER you clean off the rotor and your hands with the Rubbing Alcohol. TRY not to touch the rotor or the pads with your hands.

Brakes have lost all power after changing the pads

pads and rotors wear together. if you dont replace the rotor along with the pads, the pads wont have complete contact the rotor and will not have the stopping power they should.

I need to replace rotors on a 2005 subaru outback.

I recommend getting replacement parts at your local dealer. To remove the rotors you will need. A lift or jack (with jack stands)to get the tire off the ground. A 19mm Socket/tire iron to get the lug nuts off. A 14mm wrench to remove the caliper. And a 17mm wrench to remove the caliper cradle. A hammer may be needed to remove the rotor. The rotor itself, if factory has 2 spots where a 10mm bolt could be screwed in to press the rotor off. A hammer is easier and usually more readily available. If you are replacing pads as well, you will need a large pair of channel lock pliers to compress the pistons in the caliper.

Bought a set of avid juicy seven ultimate brakes,i squeezed the brake lever and now the pads are shut tight how do i slacken them off again!

take the wheel out insert a very large flat bladed screw driver up into where the rotor would sit and lever the pads back in very gently with the screw driver.

if this does not shift them they will need re-built by a Sram bike shop.
