Warning ribbon in V53.16.7Z

The "ribon in" warning is because you set the printer to print DIRECT THERMAL insted THERMAL TRANSFER. The first mode is for printing directly on the thermal labels, not for using a ribon. The ribon sensor detects that a ribon is pressent and you get this message. You need to change the printing mode to Thermal Transfer from the printer Setup Menu, or from the Print Driver instaled on PC.

MY printer ribbon is not moving insteadits making the ribon cover to open, what do i do? i am using lq 2180 dotmatrix printer

If the ribbon is old try replacing it with a new one (not refilled) if this ribbon is a new one then there is a problem with the ribbon feeding mechanism of your unit you may need to bring it to an authorized service provider near you to have the ribbon feeding mechanism replaced.

Error condition, heads open, ribon out

This is usually a sensor problem, make sure it is dust free and no labels are stuck around it. Check the label and ribbon paths are correct and switch off and on again.ronanjd_0.jpg

Anytime she goes to print a badge the ribbon breaks. It's the correct ribon. She's put in a new ribon and the same thing happens.

When the ribbon keeps breaking on fargo DTC300 or any similar models (the ones that share similar mechanics) three steps are to be taken.

1- Verify, clean, calibrate or replace the ribbon sensor (maybe you'll see an error like "Panel Searching" that means " the ribbon sensor can't read the ribbon panels normally).

2- Clean the "card path" (the feed and platen rollers) for dust dirt and debris using the manufacturer's cleaning kit (or a clean
lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol) and the "clean printer" option.

3- Clean the inside and outside of the printer (pay attention to the printhead) with dust-off, lint-free cloth, isipropyl alcohol and enjoy.

Or, for more advanced ts take it to a certified tech!

I want to take off the old Ribon and put a new one i don't know how to do it

Lift the front cover take hold of the cassette at each end and pull upwards.

Before you do take note of the path that the ribbon takes across the print head (Make a sketch)

Take out and shipping strips on the new ribbon and pull some of the ribbon out of the cassette

Lay the cassette onto the printer and feed the ribbon back onto the head as per your sketch.

There is a small knob or turnkey on one end of the ribbon wind that slowly so that the ribbon is drawn back into the cassette until there is little or no slack

Place the cassette down onto the two spindles and press into place use the winder to tension the ribbon

A pair of powder free surgical gloves are recommended

Thermal ribbons broke in dye sub printer

hi,
by ripped, do you mean that the ribbons have come off the hinges or are they torn?
if they are torn, any small cracks or torn edges will not harm much. but if the ribbon is sliced to pieces, they have to be replaced, as you cannot work with torn ribbon. here is a link to the manual with which you can replace the ribbons.

cheers

I suggest you replace the motherboard. A recent search on ebay turned up three ranging in price from $18 to $85. Soldering a motherboard by hand has a very high failure rate. It's easy to bridge or scratch something and fry the board. You could of course try to do it and if it fails get a replacement board.

Brother CE-70 typewriter. Was typing perfectly well. Over about 15 characters the impact on the print head reduced to nil. Although printhead appears to strike the daisy wheel the character does not strike...

Make sure that the ribbon is moving. If characters are piling up in the same spot on the ribbon you will get this problem. Easiest fix is to replace the ribbon. Many brand new ribbons can have a problem. If this dosent solve the problem it may be a mechanical problem with the mechanism that drives the ribbon, requiring a technician to repair.
