Open up the back of the case, unplug the cables and pull it out.If you don't know where the PSU is, it's where the power switch pokes through your case.

If you had "connections that were flowing back" you are at sea and the tide has returned.
Where is this yellow indicator?? is it a yellow painted rod that's popped out of the top of your computer? Is it on your monitor screen as part of some warning software? Gawd.

Have a solid amber light on top right of motherboard just replaced the psu due to the fact went through 3 power supplies with this unit and a dell tech installed all 3 plus a motherboard about 8 months...

Sounds like there is a major problem with that computer, if you have proof that dell has done all this work, and they agree it was not your fault, you probably have a good chance of a replacement computer.
I would think this is time to find some advice from a consumer advice orginization.
Just google Consumer protection advice or similar

Ok to troubleshoot it, connect the PSU to the MotherBoard ONLY, test, you may find that with it connected to the MB only it doesn't work, remove RAM and check, if PSU still No Go then MB is faulty if OK, add devices, DVD, Hard Drive, one at a time untill you find one that stops the PSU, that is ya faulty bit. replace it.

What is the 6 pin

You can replace the power supply in this Dell with a normal ATX power supply. Make sure the total wattage is equal to or greater than the old power supply.

Go to www.tigerdirect.com and order one. I suggest going about 25% higher in watts than the one you had.

Will Not boot

If the light is near the psu plug on the motherboard then this is more likely a power supply issue. If your computer is still under warranty Dell should replace it for free. Hope this helps.

No power to my computer.

hi
stuart

just read this carefully.................

Unplug the power cord and the display cable from the monitor. Now press the power button for 60 sec exact. Plug the cables and your system is working................ This is just a power drain.
