Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
The beeps are a BIOS error code. 2 beeps means that there is either something wrong with the RAM or the motherboard.
The best way to tell (if you have 2 RAM chips installed) is to remove one of the RAM chips and try to boot again. If the same happens then swap them with eachother. If it happens again you will have to purchase a new RAM chip from a store that will let you try it then return it if it doesn't work.
If you still get the same result with the new RAM then its a motherboard problem. If the laptop is still under warranty it should be covered. If not it's best to trash the laptop and get a new one. A motherboard replacement can cost almost as much as a new laptop.
