Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 62 " flat panel screen. The tv has sporadically turned it self off and then back on. It then stays on for hours with no problem. In January I had a repair man come and he determined it had a bad-noisy color wheel. He then told me he contacted Toshiba for the part and was told the light engine and the color wheel, though separate came together, and must be purchased as one part. Now, my tv is turning itself off and not coming back on. I must manually turnit back on. What can I do to avoid a costly repair of this product?

First check your lamp and make sure its good, look at the glass in front of the lamp for cloudyness and or white spikes. Look at the base of the bulb in its housing if its buldging replace it. If new lamp does not repair then you may have to replace the Optics Engine. But check ur lamp first, Also when color wheels go bad they make a loud whining noise when they are going bad. The tech may of just wanted to replace your entire engine for more money knowing you may just need a new lamp, If you have had the tv for at least 2yrs without replacing the lamp, then its time for a new one..

I have a Panasonic 46" flat screen plasma tv that will stay on for as long as you want, but when turned off, will not come back on for hours

If the set is a few years old you might want to look at the caps in the power supply--not unusual for them to be puffed up and hence cause issues like this.

Tv wont turn on, geen light flickjers but goes back to red and does ot turn on, i unplugged tv while it was on by accident.

The main board and or power supply is seeing a problem is shutting down the TV.
The cause for your issue could be the power supply, main board, and or the drive board(s) that drive the plasma screen. Sorry, but to trouble shoot that issue would require some TV tools and knowledge of electronics.
Perhaps the following can help you with a warranty repair.
1. If your TV was purchased from January 1 2008 to today---The TV does have a 1 year warranty on parts/ labor and a 2 year warranty on just the plasma screen.
2. If your TV was purchased before January 1 2008---The TV does have a 2 year warranty on parts/ labor and a 2 year warranty on just the plasma screen.
I hope this information has helped you.
Good Luck.
