Smooth top range

The color is coming off of the burners. I am renting this house and want to let the landlord know that there is a problem, but will try to fix it first, if possible.

I have the same problem. The color started coming off the burners right after I got it. Since it was under warranty I called GE and they replaced the top with a new one. Soon after the same thing happened to the second one and then again to a third one. By then my warranty had run out and I just had to live with it.

Need instruction manual

First off if you are renting, the landlord is responsible for the appliance he owns. Call him for the solution. If the Range is yours, the power connection may not be complete or switched on at the electric panel.

Hi! My old school Admiral oven/stove top is having issues. I rent, so I don't want to bother my landlord until I have to - or know what to tell him. Basically, it won't heat anything substantially. The...

You need to contact the landlord and I will tell you why: The stove should not have issues above and below simultaneously. I comment you for not wanting to bother the landlord but I feel like you have an electrical problem. The oven not there and the top not there? You have a bad circuit breaker on that puppy. Takes a 50 amp 2 pole 240 volt breaker for an electric stove and only qualified schocktricians should fool with them. My opinion.

Gas stove makes clicking noise when turning on

When a gas stove is clicking, it means it is trying to ignite the burner. If the knob is held in the ignite position for more then 3 seconds and the burner does not ignite, it means that (1) the gas is shut off to the stove, (2) she does not have gas service set-up yet at the apartment, or (3) the gas nozzles feeding the burner are dirty and clogged.

Most of the time, when you move to a new apartment, you need to call the gas company and have the gas turned on, unless it is included in your rent. Either way, when a house or apartment is unoccupied, the gas is turned off for safety reasons. I would contact the landlord to be sure.

Oven wont turn on

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
Fuses Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

Paint on stove top is coming off.

with smaller spots you can use appliance touch up paint and it should hold paint down and keep spots from getting bigger. Depending on how old the range is your landlord might be able to order a new top. I would voice my concern to the landlord and see what they might be willing to do to appease your concerns.

My Amana ceramic cooktop has one burner that is not working. I can't get the top off to look at the burners. How do you repair one burner on a ceramic cooktop?

Check your warranty first. Some burners on smooth tops had long warrantys. If not first turn the power off to the unit at the breaker. If this is a in counter cooktop it has to come out of the counter and take all the screws out that hold down the top. Best to unwire from house and move whole unit to big surface to work on.
