You don't tell us where the wires come from. For instance if the red wires were from the power source, then those two red wires and the com would join. Then two greys would tie to L1 and the third would go to L2. This would give two intensities and off.

Posting a photo or having an electrician look at it might be a better idea.

If the reds and greys all come from the fixture itself it is anybody;s guess as to the connections.

Previously hard wired. How do I connect a power cord?

It doesn't really matter which wire goes to L1 L2 or L3. All that can happen is it will run in the wrong direction. If it does just interchange any 2 of the L1 to L3 connections and this will reverse the motor.

How to connect the power to the dryer

most likely 240volts as most 120 volt dryers are already wired,depending on if its a 3 or 4 wire system depending on local electrical codes,but if its a 3 wire cord,take the RED to terminal L1 and Black to L2 terminal on the dryer terminal board HINT:(the RED and Black can go on either L1 or L2 they are interchangable) ,then the White wire to the N neutral terminal on the dryer terminal board usuall between the L1 and L2 terminal,if theres a Green Wire on the cord this is safety ground and can be attached to any metallic part on the dryer,if its a gray flat cord the 2 outside wires are L1 and L2 the center is Neutral,
so its:
RED=L1 or L2
BLACK=L1 or L2
WHITE=N or Neutral
GREEN=Safety Ground the metal dryer frame

I have a 3 prong plug on a kenmore 400 dryer. can I change it to a 4 prong, and how

yes,red and black on the cord go to L1 and L2 on the dryer which is the 2 power wires for the required 240volts, then the white wire is the neutral wire that in on the neutral terminal or possibly marked N most times its located between the L1 and L2 terminals,then the green wire on the cord goes to the metal body of the unit for your safety ground

I take it the wiring harness in front of me is 3 Phase. I have a Green wire, Red, Black and White. The wiring diagram on the back is marked L1, L2, N, E. Just need to know which wire goes where thanks.

It is not 3 phase...just single phase 240V....L1 goes to the one hot side of the 240 v, l2 goes to the other hot side of the 240V, N goes to neutral, and green goes to earth ground (metal box)
so....L1=Black L2=Red N=White E=Green

Pull cord switch

If it is a 1 way switch circuit (2core +earth cable) it should be LIVE/HOT in COM and Aux live (to the light) in L1 . I

f you have a 2 way circuit (3 core + earth cable) the aux strappers go in L1 & L2. and LIVE/HOT to COM

Remember to disconnect the power before working on electric wiring.

there should be instructions on the cord that you purchased. if not here it is, on your dryer, the 3 prongs are L1-N-L2.. and the green is a ground L1 line 1, L2 line 2, and N nuetral. L1 and L2 dont make a diff. as long as the whie(nuetral) is in middle terminal and the green screws to hte ground screw
