Open up a web browser and enter into the address bar and when prompted for a user and password enter admin in the password field and leave the usename blank under the wireless tab goto the wireless security tab and there will be sevral options for changing the encryption and passphrase but just to let you know wep is the weakest form of wireless encryption and a hacker can break it in less than a minute

Security code for wep key??

The WEP encryption code is configured in the wireless settings.
If possible use WAP or WPA2 encryption as these are a lot more secure than WEP encryption.

Twher can i find my wap pass phrase

The WPA encryption key is in the wireless setting of your wireless router.
Some later modelwireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID alreadyconfigured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label onthe bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.

I set the router from wap security to wep and i cant connect to it now.

The WEP encryption key is in the router's wireless settings and changing this encryption will affect your wireless connection.
You must also configure the computer's wireless card settings with this WEP encryption otherwise the wireless router will not allow the computer to connect to the wireless router.
I suggest you use WPA or WPA2 encryption, this is a later and stronger encryption method than WEP encryption.

Have AT&T 2WIRE849 modem. Need WPA Key Code (alpha only encryption) for notebook PC. How do I secure WPA Key Code for modem service

The WEP and WAP key is configured in the wireless router settings, you create the WAP encryption key and use this key to configure the wireless card in your computer.
WEP is not a very strong encryption key compared with WAP and WAP2, I suggest you use WAP2 if possible. You can create the encryption key with alpha and or numeric keys, if you want to use words or phrases to create the encryption key then use the PASSPHRASE.

Authentication failure

you need a network key for wireless connection to get authorized and allow your PC to connect.
make sure you have right key if security is enabled on wireless router.

now if you are entering right key then need to make sure which type of encryption router is using by going into router settings as an emaple WEP,WAP,TES etc...and make sure your computer wireless settings are same as this type.

let me know if you need more info in detail or step by step.

Panasonic cf-50 problems to connect wireless wpa personal

If the wireless card is an old model it possibly won't support WAP encryption. The wireless router most likely supports both WEP and WAP encryption.
WEP is not as secure as WAP so use the highest bit encryption that is available to you.

How to secure my d-link wireless adapter with my Arris 550a modem

To make your wireless router secure you need to use your browser and type in the router's IP configuration address.
Then you need to change the default Admin password,
change SSID and turn off SSID broadcast,
setup the encryption (use WAP or WAP2 if your wireless card supports WAP) if not use WEP 128 bit encryption
and for added protection use MAC address filtering.

WG511T network card problem

WEP and WAP mmmmmm.
So WEP is Wireless Encryption Protocol and WAP is Wireless Application Protocol. WAP is used in cell phones so i am presuming you actually mean WPA?
If so....
The wg511t provides the highest available level of industry standard 128-bit WEP encryption, and it’s
upgradable to Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security.
Here are the instructions to enable WPA.
WPA is set from the router so if it is not supported on the router it is not supported on your card.
It is router dependant.
What router do you have.
Let me know if this is helpful at all.

Wireless security

A review of the capabilities of the specific router and wireless adapters must be performed to determined to determine the options to secure the router from unauthorized access.

Again depending on the available hardware some option I have used include: from weakest to strongest, in my opinion

Hiding the SSID (name) of the router and requiring it to be entered on allowable machines wireless configuration to gain access

Use of WEP encryption - a password requireent that also scrambles the data preventing unauthorised access -- there is some weakness to this method based in the implementations and length of keys

Use of WAP or WPA encryption similar to WEP encryption except that the weaknesses of some of the implementations was prevented in the standards also I believe this supports longer keys.

Having the Router verify the MAC addresses loaded into the wireless adapter cards it communicates with -- is often considered a problem because every new card must be configured into the router when replaced or a friend comes over and needs access to your network but more difficult to fool.

In general I prefer WAP encryption over WEP if all devices will support it. Personally I also tend to hid the SSID name of the router too.
