Question about HP Pavilion ze2000 Notebook
Go into the bios and be sure to load the default settings for the hp pavilion laptop
if this does not work... fetch a disk with xp on it and boot from the cd-rom drive... f12.. to the special boot menu usually on hp
try to repair the xp installation from the xp installation disk...
goto standard installation procedure with the xp disk... and press "R" for repair...
do you find the drive??
also there is a drive diagnostics routine on most pavilion laptops in the next to last bios tab menu... run that and it will verify the hard drive is functional and safe to use...

It could also be the conncetion came loose, which can happen with IDE hard drives if the laptop gets moved around a lot. Remove the hard drive and take it to an electronics store to have it tested, or if you have a friend with an external enclosure (2.5" IDE interface, they cost between$10-20) you can hook it up to another computer via the USB port
