open the front looper cover to the machine and see if there is a diagram inside this cover, many machines have this to show the threading up sequence/position of thread carriers and there may also be red dots indicating oiling points. Sometimes it will be where the looper pivots, my Bernina has two oiling points within the front cover.
Also its a good habit to brush out this area, around the cutting blades and shute and inside the left cover also to remove all lint after each new project. Lint builds up quickly as the blade cuts fabric and there is always fibres produced. DON'T use an air compressor or canned air, use a brush and a vacuum to extract the dust/lint.
And lastly, move the cutting blade away from the fixed blade and wipe both with a cloth moistened with a little oil to keep these two blades lubricated and lint free.
