Question about Toshiba & Satellite™ L305D-S5922 15.4" Laptop PC Notebook
My Toshiba laptop is experiencing Internet connection problems. The connection repair feature says there is nothing wrong, and the network says I'm connected to the Internet, yet when I try to open the Internet, I can't.
This started when my roommate had to disconnect and reconnect our router and modem, and he can connect fine, but I can't.
The last time something like this happened, I uninstalled and reinstalled the software for my adapter and it fixed the problem. Now, it won't. I tried turning the wireless switch off and on as well.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The problem is not Vista, the problem is the Netgear. I have seen this happen time and time again with both Netgear (primarily) and D-Link (often). That's why I *only* recommend Linksys.
Worst case - go buy one from Walmart (yes, they have 'em). Hook it up and see the difference. If, somehow, the problem persists, take it back, and you've lost nothing. But I'd bet (as they say down here in the South "dollars to doughnuts") that's your problem :)
Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

It sounds to me that the Atheros wireless card may have gone bad, in some cases this does happen.
Check in the bios to make sure that the wireless adapter is enabled, apart from that i cannot suggest anything else as you have just about troubleshot everything a PC technician would do before coming to the conclusion that its the hardware which is at fault.
If the machine is still under warranty then please take advantage of that, if not then a reputable PC repair shop will be able to fit a new card in the laptop and they will make sure it works before it comes back to you.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Try the properties of your Network controller. And go to your Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 properties. Sometimes you have to change from Auto Obtain to manual and back again to get the IP addresses to correct themselves. Hope this helps.
