Go to the settings app, and open up wifi. it will tell you any wifi networks nearby. press network you want to use, and you should have internet access. if you press a network, and it asks for a password, all it is is security

Hello,

Ok, I had this situation happen to me a few times. I usually check if the WEP key for the network is correct, reset the router and then I go on the iPod, tap settings, tap wifi, tap on the arrow of the network you are using (on the right) and click RENEW LEASE.

Hope this helped!

Make sure you have a wireless home network, that usually involves a wireless router. Once you have set up your wireless home network, then open up settings in your itouch, then click wifi, then wait until a list shows up with the name of your network, then press it and if security is enabled enter the password, and voila.

I have an ipod touch 8gb 1st generation... There's an icon on the home screen for youtube that came already on the ipod. Every time I click the youtube icon it says "cannot connect to youtube"...

Ensure your Wifi settings are configured correctly. Try loading different YouTube videos. If the problems till persists, try restoring your iPod to its original factory settings. To do this, right click your iPod in your iTunes Devices List and select the option to Restore.

How to Fix Wi-Fi on Iphone/Ipod Problem?

This are the common problems of Iphone/Ipod Wireless Fidelity...

* iPod Touch shows no WiFi address (Tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address.

* iPod touch appears to be connected to a WiFi network but cannot use Wi-Fi for checking email and surfing the Internet.

* iPod Touch WiFi icon is showing as grayed out.

* When you tap Settings > WiFi and then you see no network entries.

First you need to back up your data by syncing your iPod touch to iTunes. It is very important you do this before proceeding with the fixes below.

1.On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Reset Network Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down toWiFi Address. If there is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 2 below.

2. On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Erase All Content and Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down to WiFi Address. Ifthere is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 3 below.

3. If the above fixes don't work then the only thing left is to restore the iPod touch software using iTunes which will erase all data on the device. So before restoring make sure you back up your data by syncing with iTunes.

After the restore is complete, you can re-sync with iTunes to load the data back to your iPodTouch. Now see if your device shows a WiFi address (tap Settings >General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address). If none of the above settings and fixes work ,then you might want to consider getting your iPod touch repaired by Apple.

Hope you see it useful...

I cannot connect my ipod touch to my router how do i connect it?

First you'll need to turn on your Wi-Fi.

1. Choose (Settings) then (WiFi) then (turn WiFi on)
2. Set iPod touch to ask if you want to join a new network: Choose (WiFi) and turn (Ask to Join Networks) ON or OFF.

Then you'll need to join a WiFi network (your D-Link for instance)

1. Choose (Settings) then (WiFi) then wait until your D-Link shows up in the list of networks.
2. Select your network and if you have a password for your router make sure you type it. (networks that require a password have a lock icon next to it) then tap (join)

Once you join a WiFi network manually, iPod touch will automatically connect to it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPod touch joins the one last used.

When iPod touch is connected to a WiFi network, the WiFi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows the connection strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the connection.

Good Luck

Wifi is connected on ipod touch 8gb and has the latest update and still can not get online service keeps saying to require vpn information

when you go to settings, and general you will see a wifi setting on top is the wifi network switch, move it to "ON" with your finger.
below that is a brower push tap and set to push.
below that is your network, tap and join when a window pops up asking for your network passcode, look at your router label and enter the WEP code into your ipod.
close the settings and go back to the front, you should see your network in the upper left of the screen. it will show a signal cone with lines and what type of network speed.
If you have anymore issues, let me know and I will help more.

8gb ipod touch will not connect to internet when i have a full wi

Hi there,

You shouldn't need to change the Address or DNS.

On your wireless router, make sure of your Firewall settings (if there is any form of blocking) and it's security settings (eg, network name, password and security type etc). Once you are sure of it's settings, on the iPod go to Settings, then Wifi. In there turn off then on wifi. Allow it to scan then if it comes up with your network, select it then type in the password when requested and tap Join. If it doesn't show you need to enter it manually. To do this tap on Other then type in the Network name. It should now request a password (if one is set) and you are then connected indicated by the wifi logo in the status bar.

For more info refer to your ipod touch manual pages 90-91.

All the best.
