This sounds more to be a switch or motor failure if the outlet is OK, and the unit will not work.

I have a Hoover Rewind, the plug always got hot, tonight it just stopped working, I know it is not expensive and older but I really don't want to buy a new one if I can avoid it at this moment

I am not sure of the motor wattage but it is unlikely to exceed 2kw and is probably much less so that sort of load being plugged into a power outlet capable of safely delivering a much larger current is unlikely to cause heating of the plug. That the plug did become hot indicates a poor contact between the supply cables and power outlet, between the power outlet and plug or what seems the most likely, between the plug and the power cord.

Given that the plug has been getting hot and that most breakdowns of portable appliances including vacs are internal breaks of the power cord usually at or somewhere near the plug, so that would be a good place to start testing...

I went to plug my dyson dc 33 and it wont turn on

First, have you tried it in other outlets, If you do, and it starts, then obviously you have a bad receptacle - or at least one of the receptacles is bad. If that doesn't do it, try manually bending the prongs on the vac cord to widen them just a wee bit. If that fails, then there is either a short in the cord or something going on in the machine. Clean the roller bar - it pops out easily, dump the cylinder (it may be so full of schlock that it's protecting the vac by not starting). Having done all of that, if it still won't start, could be the motor is fried. At that point, call Dyson. . .

Electrolux mondo z1175 vacuum cleaner not working.

Do not get upset with me, but I must ask this question!!! 1) Did u try any other appliance in that outlet, or 2) Did you go back to the original outlet to see if the vacuum works there? It is kind of a coincidence that it quit working only after you moved it to another area. Let me know please!

My shop vac stopped working while vacuuming i looked at everything i could look at and still wont work tried several other outlets checked cable still nothing

Staring from the failrue of the power cord, the main plug,t he main switch each of the sections must be tested for continutiy before we can conclude.
SInce it is clear case of power failure the voltage must reach the motor,if not back trace to the point decribed above.
If voltage is at the motor without any reponse then the motor can be faulty.Checked also faulty surge/capacitors.

While vaccuming it just stopped. Tried another outlet and checked power cord. Did find tube clogged with a dirt clog but no motor strain heard. Cleaned it out, Still not running

on the back of most vac's , u will find a red butten, use that to reset the vac. but even if that works u can avoid this usely buy ajusying the vac to a higher set . that helps reduse strian that the belt gets.
thanks

Nutone CV556 Vaccuum Cleaner -Continuously running

Start with this. Unplug the vac to shut off, then disconnect the low voltage wiring at the vac.Plug the vac back in. If the vac still runs you have an internal short on the relay or wiring inside the vac.
If the vac stops then the vac and final wiring is OK and the problem is in the wiring in the house.
Have you removed any inlets for painting or had any renos done or pictures hung. If so undo what you did last. If inlets were disturbed remove them and look for low voltage vac wires touching metal backing plates in the wall or touching the inlet mounting screws.
If you have done a reno or hung pictures you may have pierece the wire for the vac creating a low voltage short which will keep the vac running until removed. I have seen this happen with freshly installed 1/4 round molding along a baseboard

Nutone central vacuum leaks brown liquid

Dear lord, that is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Who installed the Vac and DW or were they both in the home before your time?

Normally, if liquid drips out of a CV outlet it's because it was sucked up during vacuuming. However, if your vacuum runs or has suction at the outlets due to the dishwasher running, you have a low voltage gap being bridged by either the dishwasher's wiring or by liquid leaking from it onto the CV wiring somewhere.

Bottom line, you have MAJOR issues inside your home with one or both of the systems, and if there's liquid, there's a dishwasher to be worried about! Look below it for leaks into the basement/lower floor; follow the plumbing (especially the drain waste runs) and figure out where the damage is before your house suffers the lot.

Vacuum working perfectly and everything stopped. Went to the utility room and found a plastic bag on top of the equipment. Tried the reset button, etc. nothing works.

sounds like a bad relay in the tank just a simple repair but should be done by a vacuum tech or electrician. Could be a motor is nothing is starting at all, but not as likely.

Help!!! It won't start.

Hello,
When you say you checked your extension cord, what do you mean by that? Were you able to ohm out the wires to determine that you didn't have an inline break anywhere? Just because you changed outlets to a known good outlet, doesn't rule out a problem with the cord, switch or motor itself. If you have access to an ohm meter, volt meter, continuity checker or even an inductive power sensor ( electritians use these all the time to find live power feeds) then you may be able to determine where the problem lies.. I did a cursory search for a wiring diagram for that particular model but was unable to locate one. Not having that information means I am only speculating what your problem could be. Is there a reset button or popout circuit breaker on that model that may have tripped? If so, reset it and try it again. If not then you may need to do some troubleshooting of the hardware itself. Not sure I've helped you at all but I tried.. Hope you can trace out the problem... Good luck..
