Maybe your battery is actually dying if it runs down that fast. Try replacing the battery.

Acer Aspire 4830T laptop battery behaving vaguely

Do you still have the old battery. If so charge it, and see if it charges properly. If so then you have a bad battery.

Nc6000 multibay battery does not recharge

Perhaps remove the multi-bay battery, and let main battery charge all the way. Then reattach multi-bay battery, and see if it's recognized.
(Will charge)

That is AC adapter (Charger) removed, then remove multi-bay battery.
Plug AC adapter back into laptop, THEN plug AC adapter into power.

[You do Not want to unplug an AC adapter from a laptop, with the AC adapter plugged into power. Could be a power surge/voltage spike. Unplug AC adapter from power, when plugging into laptop, or unplugging from laptop ]

Main battery charged, unplug power to AC adapter, unplug AC adapter from laptop. Plug multi-bay battery in, then AC adapter.
(Then plug AC adapter into power)

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

The battery may not be charged to full capacity. Does the battery show full charge when you charge it for 12 hours?
The adapter may be faulty. Check the battery indicator on the phone when it is being charged.

I have a Dell Inspirion 1525. I have a fairly new after market replacement battery which I have only had now for 4 months. I am using Vista. As soon as I unplug, computer shuts down. I go to power settings...

The adapter is working correctly. The battery is either slow to charge or in need of replacement.

It's possible your battery isn't charging at all so to test this boot into bios -> battery status and watch it run overnight.

Battery indicator keeps fluctuating to 4hrs to 6hrs back to 4hrs then 8hrs every 5 mins or so i have acer A0532H with windows 7

first of all let me ask how old is the battery, if it`s new-discharge the battery until pc shuts down itself because of low battery, remove the battery , unplug AC charger from laptop, wait for 5 minutes, then hold power button for 5 full seconds, wait another 5 minutes, then put battery and ac charger on , don`t turn on laptop yet, wait until battery indicator shows that battery fully charged, then remove AC charger, and turn on laptop. P.S. you can try this on old battery too, but usually worthless, because old batteries are not recognizable by system currectly ..

IBM T30 - power issues

You might try cleaning the battery compartment. Makeing sure there are no damaged pins. Often times even a single messed up pin will cause this. Also this is a very good indication of adaptor failure. If you haven't allready I suggest getting another ac adapter specific to you machine. Even a substitute will casue the same issue you are now experianceing.

Compaq laptop Evo N410c Battery charging

Hi

First remove the battery and run only on the adapter... If it works fine then there is no problem with adapter...... Charge the battery continuously for 4 hours without seeing the percentage of charging and remove the adapter..... If the laptop runs on battery for 45 mins then it might be the problem with drivers..... Go to device manager and reinstall the drivers if it is less than 45 mins.... Reinstall the drivers either ways...... If still the problem persists.... Go to HP.com and and select software and driver downloads and give the product number.... select the OS... Select HP battery check.... Download the file (sp32299.exe) and click save.... Save file onto the desktop and close the site..... Run the exe file.... If it passes the battery is fine... If fails replace the battery....

The steps might be longer..... But i can assure that it will work
