Ok this could be a easy fix i had the same problem in my 02 eddie bower explorer there is 2 switches in each door one tells the computer the door is open the other tells the computer to turn on the interior light so if you notice the door ajar light come on or your interior lights stay on for a prolonged period of time then this is for sure your problem this can also be your problem if the switches are just starting to go bad they will randomly pop in and out trust me this is what happened to me the switches are unfortunatly located inside the door now (i miss the door pin switch's) but they are still easy and very inexpensive to replace check your local auto parts store for the do not go to ford as they will charge you an arm and a leg :) good luck my friend

2002 mountaineer arlarm goes off randomly

My bet is that the alarm goes off when it is windy or when a large truck passes by. If that appears to be the case, the tamper alarm sensitivity needs to be adjusted so that it is less sensitive to movement of the truck.

if it is a ford remote or ford factory alarm remote cycle the key from off to run(usually 8 times) untill you hear door locks activate. at this exact time key needs to be in the on position.touch unlock or lock on all remotes being programmed and make sure door locks respond to remotes. then turn key off ending programming mode.then try your fobs they should work

How do is program a viper alarm and remote starer 479 v/p/x to a grand am

first you will need to locate your valet switch/button, which will be a black push button located somewhere under the driver side dash.

Open a Door,

Turn your key to ON position,

within 5 seconds of turning your key to the ON spot,

press and release the program button 1 time, then press it a 2nd time and hold it this time
the L.E.D will flash one time and then you will hear a chirp,

while still holding the valet switch, press the lock button on your new remote. you should hear a single chirp.

After chirp you can release the program button and turn the key to off.

you should hear a long chirp when the alarm exits the programming

try the remote

if the remote functions don't work properly, you can always try a different # pattern.

ex: press 2 times and hold on the 3rd, press 3 times and hold on the 4th.

When i lock the doors on a 2002 ford explorer about thirty minutes or so the alarm sounds. even if not activated. the only way it doesnt is when i leave it unlocked. any suggestions?

Check to see if when the alarm goes off if the interior lights are lit. Ford's have a problem at times with the door pinswitch in the door latch leaving the interior lights on, or coming on unexpectedly. Is this a factory installed alarm? WD40 sprayed into the latch will sometimes fix this problem.
