Open your control panel, click on the system icon and see what it indicates about your cd/dvd drive, is it listed?
Try re-installing your drivers. If you are one to mess around with the inside of your computer, make sure the drive cables are properly seated as well as the power supply connector. Check for power at the power supply connector as well.
