SOURCE: Buzzing Cerwin Vega LS-12 Subwoofer

If it's not interference or a ground problem it might be a bad amp. I have the same sub and not only did I have the buzzing, but also a noticable "whacking" sound instead of smooth bass. I found an online seller who at the time just happened to have obtained some surplus Cerwin Vega amps that fit perfectly. Paid $60 shipped. Problem solved.

Just run "RCA" cable to sub and split off to both L&R with y adaptor and hookup to suboutput on receiver and plug into outlet and you should be a bangin then. GOOD LUCK. GURU JAY

sounds like an earth fault either with the plug circut or more likely with the power board of the unit.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

Loud humming sound

Make sure that the input connection ground is good. If that does not cure the loud hum then you have a power supply issue.

I suggest build new non-powered woofers with cabinets.
If you really get serious with your sound you'll need a workshop
for customizing it all. A converted garage is nice.
See mine in photo for an example:

Acoustic reaserch subwoofer dont have any sound

If this is a powered sub then it's most likely the internal amp inside it that has failed. It's more than likely the part that works the hardest on the board. IE the main amp semicoductor.

Hello
Did you find the value of ZD3.
I need it too.
I have the same problem, and I take out the ZD3 and the subwoofer works. But I'm not sure that is correct. I think it may be the circuit stand by.

Subwoofer shut down

The amplifier probably has a built in protection circuit to keep from over driving the subwoofers. This will prevent the dealer from replacing woofers........most likely it's designed to be overly safe.
There's likely not much you can do about it, if there's not enough bass you may have to seek out a larger amplifier.
