Re: Oven trouble

Do Not try to perform the below if: Oven is under warranty,You are not handy with a soldering gun, or Are afraid to do this.

The below solution applies only to my in-wall oven with F2 and F3 codes randomly, but presumably will work with other GE models.

I had the same trouble with a GE in-wall oven. The problem was on the electrical board behind the keypad. A pin that was soldered to the board, that was the input for the oven temp sensor, had cracked solder. So I re-soldered the pin and hopefully it will continue working.

If this fixes your oven please post back!

91136669891 HAS ERROR CODE F2 F3

Are you sure about this error? The 91136669891 was made by Whirlpool for the Kenmore line. The 4 character codes for these ranges are F# E# (not two Fs).

Depending on which error you are actually have see below.

If the code includes F3 then you have a problem with the oven temperature sensor (F3 E2 would be temperature too high). You need to replace the sensor. Sears Parts Direct has the sensor for $74.12: . The complete diagram of the oven parts is available here: . The sensor is part 253.

If the code includes F2, then double check the second code. Whirlpool has no F2 E3 error that I know of. However, F2 errors tend to be a problem with the keypad. Check the wiring connection between the keypad and the control. This should be firm. Then press Cancel. If the error persists, you need to replace the keypad. See for the parts diagram and prices.

I hope this helps.

F2 &F3 error codes, oven keeps beeping, I already tried turning off circuit breaker did not solve problem

- E0 Shorted keypad (also called touch
pad) 1. Check keypad connector for firm
connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code
returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane
switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this
case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock). F2 - E1 Keypad cable unplugged F2 - E5 Cancel key drive line open F2 - E6 Cancel key drive line open F3 - E0 Oven temperature sensor (RTD) opened (upper oven,
if double oven) Replace Oven temperature
sensor (RTD)

Note: Applies to all F3-E...
codes. F3 - E1 Oven temperature sensor (RTD) shorted (upper
oven, if double oven) F3 - E2 Oven temperature is too high (Cook

Gives codes F-2 &F3 what is the problem

Hi, Error Code F2
An F2 error code indicates a failed connection with the keypad. Ensure that the connection between the keypad and control board is tight, and press the "Cancel" key. Wait one minute to see if the error code returns. If it does, the keypad is defective and needs replacing.

Error Code F3
F3 error codes are triggered by problems with the oven temperature sensor. You cannot tell whether the sensor has shorted out or has simply failed to generate a reading if your Whirlpool range only displays two-digit codes. On a Whirlpool range with four-digit error codes, the F3-E0 code represents a failed temperature sensor and F3-E1 represents a short in the sensor. Regardless of which code is displayed, replacing the temperature sensor is the only way to correct the problem.

Hope that helps.

Oven will not turn on

Hi mcifaretto,

F3 code error indicates a bad oven temperature sensor (RTD). To fix this error, Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

Hope this helps.

Oven turns off and displayes F2,F3,and sometimes F4.

5550 The error code ?F2? will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or ?clock? senses a runaway heat condition during the ?cook? or the ?clean? modes. It could be caused by the oven temperature sensor, by the ERC or by the wire harness between the oven temperature sensor and the ERC. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the ?cook? or ?clean? modes only, then the problem is a bad oven temperature sensor or its wire harness. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the time of the day mode also, then most likely a problem is the bad ERC. The access to the oven temperature sensor plug and the wires is from the back only. You have to pull the oven out of the wall (if it?s free standing) or remove it from the cabinet (if it?s built in). Disconnect the power and remove the rear cover. Check the resistance across the oven temperature sensor. It is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the oven temperature sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven temperature sensor to the ERC. Replace all wire nuts if any. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC. To get the right replacement part just click on the link , then type the model number of your oven in the search box, click on the ?search? button and in the new window type the word ?sensor? or the word ?clock? in the ?search by keyword? box and click the ?search? button.
