SOURCE: Washing Machine shakes on spin cycle.

I was replacing my boot seal because it was torn like many others here. I discovered why my washer had been shaking as well. There are springs that are anchored to help balance the barrel and one of them had come unanchored. The stake that anchored one of the springs had wiggled out. I just put it back in and now my seal is replaced and the washer is balanced again. Although I appear to have a small leak somewhere still so I am still searching online for answers.

UE Error Code

The UE error code (Unbalanced Error) displays when you wash items that cause the machine to shake badly during the spin cycle, if possible wash and drain the items only, then open the door and stack the items evenly on both sides of the drum in order to balance it, now select the spin cycle.

Washer shakes violently!

Do you not know that unbalanced dry clotrhes become super unbalanced wet clothes! If you put too little clothing in the front loader, the weight will be in one place on the high speed turning drum. If you put in too much, the load will shift to a few locations but still be out of balance. Rather than "dance" the Chubby Checker way with your machine, try stopping it when it does "the dance" and redistribute the clothing around the drum!

The washer did not spin due to continuous inbalance

Check the unbalance sensor, or inertial switch, it should be N.C., or normally closed, giving a "balanced" signal back to the control board. My unit had no continuity even when there was no out of balance, or severe shaking. If you have a voltmeter this can be tested by disconnecting the wires to the sensor and setting the meter to Ohms, it should be very low, 0-5 ohms. If it is higher than this the contacts are bad. I fixed mine by running a small electrical load through the switch, a 100 watt light bulb, with power cord that I rigged up. I shook the sensor several times until the lightbulb had power when the switch was still. This "cleaned" the contacts by running the 100 watts of power through the contacts and creating a spark. Or you could jumper the wires together and see if the unbalance condition goes away; if so, replace the switch.

Washing machine shakes violenly at slow speed

have you leveled the machine by its legs and locked them in place with the jamb nuts between the case and legs? if so then it could be your drum bearings going bad on the inner drum

Shakes way bad during spin cycle

A washing machine may wiggle, rattle or move across the floor. It is often accompanied by excessive, or loud noise. There can be several causes and the problem is worse with some units more than others. The most common cause is an unbalanced wash load. Open the lid/door, and attempt to redistribute the clothing to balance the weight. Heavy loads, especially things like comforters, are more likely to become unbalanced than small loads. If you do a lot of heavy loads, you should consider a heavy duty/large capacity washer when it comes time to replace your current unit. A washer must be level both from side to side as well as from front to back. Washing machines have adjustable feet to enable you to level them. See your manual on how to level your washing machine. The outer tub/basket, is supported by springs, pistons or counterweights to keep it balanced. The weight of all that water in a wash load requires a powerful balancing mechanism. If the balancing system becomes detached from one or more points, it will not be able to balance the load properly. Furthermore, even if everything appears to be in place, as the appliance ages, the springs or pistons/shock absorbers, may begin to wear out and not support as much weigh as needed.

Unplug the washer and open the cabinet. Because of the variety of balancing mechanisms, you will have to inspect your machine to determine how it is balanced. Once you discover the mechanism, then inspect it for integrity. In the case of old parts that appear to be in working order, you may not be able to tell if they need to be replaced. They may be weak but appear to be in good condition. If no other solution resolves the problem, then replacing the balancing springs or other moving support parts may be the best action.Another common cause for excessive movement, or clunking, is the floor on which the washer rests. The washer is heavy and even more so when filled with water. Any floor, other than a concrete slab, will tend to pick up and amplify the vibrations from the machine. There are a couple things you can try. If you have access to the joists under the floor, you may be able to beef up the support. Another thing to try is placing a large sheet of plywood under the washer. It should be 3/4" or even 1" thick and as large as possible to distribute the weight. Use a sheet big enough for both the washer and dryer to sit on. If possible fasten the plywood to the existing floor.

I have a GE top loading washing machine model # WLSR3000G0WW. It just went out of balance because it was mis-loaded. Now, even with no clothes in it, it wants to shake. I have the front off the machine and...

The back legs are self adjusting. If it shook violently then they most probalby came off the ground and re-adjusted. The fix is easy. Drain the system. Left the back of the washer off the ground to ensure both back legs are level. Now ensure the front are level by turning them until the machine is level. If this does not work then you need to manual adjust all four legs.
