The car in question is a Holen Commodore, an Aussie vehicle. I have since sorted out the issue, replacing the slides that sit on rails within the door, I removed the remaining worn ones with a large screwdriver and the safest way to clip the new ones into place is to put them in the rail, and slowly squeeze the greased ball into the socket using a "G" clamp. I greased the rails and presto the windows worked like new!
I had to repair the arms on the drivers side, as the arms fell apart at the pivot point, by drilling a small hole and placing a large washer on one side then bolting it up, using a wheelnut spring washer to keep the tension on the washer.
