Trackball needs to be kept clean at all times . you can clean them with a damp cloth ( make sure water does not drip ) .
also the trackball can be replaced for a very low cost if you dare to replace it yourself .
you can buy the trackball through ebay from $1.99 .
one last option is to get a small air compressor and blow air around the trackball without forcing too much pressure .
try all this and see how you go .

Scroll is hesitating.. Will work for moment then button keeps scrolling but screen does not scroll with movement of button... Can this be fixed or do I have to replace? LynnsizzleV@aol.com

Lynne:
You can try a few things... Take a clean rag or cloth and moisten it with rubbing alcohol and gently scrub across the scroll wheel to remove dirt and skin oils from the scroll wheel and trackball. Don't let alcohol drip into the trackball body. If that doesn't work, and you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can turn the trackball over and remove the screws that hold the housing together (some may be under the rubber pads on the bottom of the trackball) open the housing and clean the parts that contact the trackball and scroll wheel with a clean rag or cloth. Blow out any dust or dirt in the housing, Dry the parts you cleaned with alcohol and reassemble the trackball. Use rubber cement on the rubber pads, not model cement or super glue, in case you need to disassemble the trackball again at a later time.

Sidekick 2008 trackball doesn't scroll down or left anymore

More than likely, the trackball on your Sidekick 2008 is really dirty. Overtime, dirt and grime gets in between the ball and the sensors.

It is really easy to clean it, you will need q-tips and IPA alcohol. No dis assembly is usually needed!

Check out the Video at the following link to see how the trackball cleaning on the Sidekick 2008 is done

Cannot scroll up with my Blackberry Curve 8310 trackball

It is a very common problem. You just need a new trackball. Should be about $25. If you want to make it work temporary, then just removed it and clean the trackball and the phone part under it (on the phone itself) with 99% alcohol. It might work for a while again

Trackball

I just had this happen to me. I blew air (from an air can used to clean keyboards, etc) into the trackball and it started working fine. It seemed there was dust or something stuck inside. Good Luck!

Trackball not moving right

This is right, the problem is in the trackball. If you can get hold of alcohol like the one used years ago to clean the heads of tape decks etc, you may be able to put some in the trackball and rotate the ball around in all directions with the hope that it may clean it.

My blackberry scroll key not working

I just fixed mine trackball which can only move in the vertical direction. By removing the silver cover (there are three small clips that hold it in place), the trackball and its enclosure will fall out. Carefully remove the white plastic cover (there are 2 clips that hold them in place) on the other side of the enclosure. Take out all 4 cylinders (4 magnet at the end) with tweezer and clean thoroughly. The 4 cylinders got clog with lint and dirt which prevent the ball in contact with the cylinder. This will solve your problem.
