Question about GE Zoneline AZ55H07D Air Conditioner

1 Answer

AC will only work in the early morning. I recently moved into an old home with 2 identical AC units, the one on the west side of my house only works during the early morning and will not respond during the day. I have had an AC repair person come in in the morning and it was working fine therefore he cannot find any problems. I've swaped the thermostats on the wall and it is doing the same thing, so it will not be a thermostats issue. Any suggestions?

If your AC only works when it is cool outside, then you probably have a dirty condenser coil, you're overcharged on refrigerant or the outdoor fan is not running at full speed.

How to set a classic manor quartz west minister wall clock to chime at the correct time.

Hello Fern Hicks,

Short of ORDERING IN A NEW movement I
would rather try removing the hands... and placing them where they are chime appropriate...

I'm sure there are more convoluted ways of accomplishing the same thing... but I so old & clock oriented... I only turn clocks & timers in the FORWARD direction (very OLD school).

Remove the minutes hand (from where-ever it strikes)...
Move the hour hand (only if necessary & replace the minute hand as appropriate to the movement strike.

How do you make your old wall air conditioners blow refridgerated air again?

I'm pretty sure those work just like the AC unit in a home or car/truck/SUV. If they are low on Freon the cooling unit (compressor) will not engage...so the air that it IS blowing is just recirculated air (the air from the room). Try looking for a HVAC company in your air...see if they can give you a (free) estimate. If it's not the Freon, then it's possible it could be the compressor is bad.
Good luck!
Jason

To make sure that there is not a problem with your blower test it on cool. if it runs good. then start the heater on auto and it should be okay. but still supervise the operation for about 5 mins. if you still smell something burning . then call an AC Technician for help.

AC not cooling during the day

Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops.

Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit.

Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows.

Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal.

The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!

Just replace the outside unit and added knew a frame coils inside, the ac is not keeping up with the heat. my old unit was a 3 ton and worked well, my new unit is a 3-1/2 ton and working non stop, what...

start with making sure you have aclean filter, after that make sure the blower speed is at the proper setting when the air conditioning is on---usually either high or medium high for a fixed speed system, make sure the return air vents are not blocked or restricted as well as the delivery vents not close or restricted to cause too much static pressure ( back pressure at the delivery side can reduce air flow across the a-coil ) also make sure the insulation sheet that is usually above the a-coil is not being blown down across the a-coil entryside when the blower is on. After checking all these, if you find nothing you should start by having the pressure checked --- basically comparing the pressure at the "outside unit" to the pressure at the "inside unit" or a-coil. these are high side and low side pressures. Have you done anything else to the house----attic vents, new soffits, insulation, etc that may be affecting heat gain in the house. Is it a house, mobile home or what?

AC unit seems to be working normally but not cooling house

If you are referring to the secondary pan there could be a problem with your drain line.i would find the drain at the exterior of your home and **** it out with a wet vac..most A.H.Us have float switches or moisture sensors. They will shut down the unit if the drain clogs.

its possible that your water tank has frozen up, try turning the refrig off and leave the doors open for about 10-15 mins and try it again. if that works just reset temp controls a little lower..
