Did you use a trash plate? If not you have something stuck in the pipes and need to use an air compressor and blow from pump with main closed. Debris should shoot out!

How do I vacuum my index pool

Even with an "upgraded" pump, it still doesn't provide enough suction to do a good job. They are just a better than non upgraded 'toy'! But... Take your vacuum hose with the vacuum head attached and one end connected to your telescopic pole and send it to the bottom of the pool. Then slowly feed the rest of the hose pushing water into the hose until you reach the opposite end. Water should come out of the other end! If it does not, you did not prime the hose correctly. Try it again this time push deeper into the water beating the hose slowly pushing the water up into the hose at the surface level. Once you have water coming out of the other end you plug it into your suction port. Turn on the pump and now you have section at the other end of the hose, that the vacuum head. Now just vacuum the bottom of the pool, as you would vacuum your carpet in your home.
all of that dirt, sand, silt, and other debris, will end up in your filter element. You will have to clean it, if not replace it.

While vacuming loses suction, sand filter pressure goes high

That increase is due to the filter loading up with debris. Is the pool unusually dirty? If there is a lot of dirt and silt in the pool use the "waste" setting on your backwash valve while vacuuming.
This allows the water to bypass the filter and go directly out the waste line. Keep an eye on your water level because you will be removing water from the pool and may have to add more.

I have an emerson pool pump #4780, 1.0 HP, 3450 rpm. Had a very heavy rain storm and it got about an 1/2 inch of water and dirt in it. can it be salvaged? I am a little handy and have tools. a new one...

Do not run it until it is dried out.
If you can open it and remove the water & dirt, do that.
If you can find an electrical cleaner that displaces water, spray any areas that you can see to flush out debris.
Use a hair dryer to dry it out or leave it out to dry in the air.
Once it is completely dry, you should be able to start it.
The key is not to try to start it while it is wet or has debris in it.

Good luck.

as this unit has 3 filters on it, a lot of people forget about the one filter that will cause all of your trouble here.

There is the exhaust hepa filter, no problem, your unit is pretty new, it shouldn't be a problem.
There is the circular filter in the chamber where all your dust and debris collects. It is in the top portion and will come out with a twist. This filter is washable. Warm water and no soap.

The third filter, and this is the one that is most commonly overlooked, is just below the dirt container you can take out and clean. It is in a grey "tray" that pulls out and the sponge filter is in the tray. As a word of warning, it is probably pretty dirty. Again just wash it, warm water no soap, and you should be good to go.

PLEASE make sure that the filters are DRY before putting them back into your machine.

Good luck.

Got a lot of dirt on the bottom of the pool after adding floculant .when i hoover the debris it resurculates back into the pool

You must be using a suction side cleaning system with a sand filter right?
Turn the multi-port valve on the sand filter to FILTER if you want to filter the debris out.
If you want to get rid of the debris, set the multi-port valve to waste.
Make sure you power down the pump before making any of these adjustments.

It stopped sucking @ brush stopped turning

Usually on this vacuum those two problems are not related, but if you got a lot of stuff stuck in the brushroll and in the suction tube at the same time it could happen. Check the belt to make sure it's not broken. If the vacuum is over a year old the belt should probably be replaced anyway, this can be expensive on some Dyson models. The first thing to check on suction is the filters. Most Dysons have two filters. The motor filter should be cleaned and thoroughly dried after each use. The exhaust filter should be replaced frequently, for most people once a year should do. If you do not clean and replace the filters often enough the suction will keep going down and down until there is not enough airflow to propel the dirt and debris through the vacuum into the dirt cup and it ends up getting stuck and clogging up the vacuum which can lead to expensive repairs.

Greetings from GoVacuum,

There are two things that you should check on this vacuum after running it without a bag inside. The first thing you should check is the filter that is underneath of the vacuum bag. This filter is underneath of a bracket, and the bracket can be removed by pulling straight up on the bracket. The bracket and filter are directly below the vacuum bag inside the vacuum bag housing. If the machine was run without a bag (or the bag fell off) then this filter is most likely going to be extremely clogged. You can simly remove the filter, and run it under hot water until clean. Make sure the filter is 100% completely dry before putting it back in the vacuum and using it. Running the vacuum with a wet filter will destroy your motor.

Now in terms of the belts. Where as the belts don't directly control the suction of the vacuum cleaner, they certainly facilitate the pick up of dirt and debris on the floor. Many people assume that since the vacuum is not picking up from the floor, then the vacuum doesn't have suction. You can test this by pulling out the attachment hose and feeling for suction, is there suction at the end of the hose? If yes, then the reason the vacuum is not picking up on the floor is because of the belts. If you don't have suction at the end of the hose, then you have a clog, some where or a dirty filter.

The belts actually are what spin the brush, and the brush basically sweeps the carpet, and throws the dirt and debris into the suction port, and when the dirt and debris are near the suction port, the suction then takes over and takes it to the bag.

There are two belts on this model, it's best to replace both of these belts at the same time. If you replace just one, then the other belt will wear out quicker. It's always best to replace these two belts in conjunction.

The two belts that are used on this vacuum are:

Hoover Windtunnel V-Belt Part 38528034

Hoover Windtunnel Flat Belt, Hoover Part 38528035

Once you have the belts, and you're ready to replace them, here's a great video that we shot here at Govacuum.com that shows you exactly how to replace these belts, as well as some basic maintenance on your roller brush;

Cleaner is not picking up debris from pool bottom

Have you check the filter/baskets to make sure that you don't have a large piece of debris that is preventing suctions? You will also want to check each section on the vaccum systematically to make sure that there are not cracks or noticable areas of damage that would prevent the pool cleaner from working. Is is not moving at all or just not sucking properly? Can you give me more details as to what it, exactly, it is doing?
