Question about RCA OPAL M4001 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Error?? okay, when i try to turn on my mp3 it says boot error please format unit. how do I format? Same problem as others on an M4008. Says "Boot Error! Please Format Unit". Even though connected properly via usb, the MP3 does not show in "My Computer". How is it possible to fix this? No menus can be accessed through the Opal M4008, and it doesn't detect on the computer! Any advise would be appreciated! Also, I said my product was the M4001 because the M4008 wasn't an option to choose!

I'm having the same issue and when I plug it in to my computer it needs the driver, but when I uninstall the driver and re-install nothign works. I think the product is just faulty after seeig how many issues are on this site.

In Windows XP, rt click my computer. Scroll down to manage and click. Find disk management on the left and click. Your player should show up as a disk drive and you should be able to formt it here.

Boot error! please format unit

It might be cause by a corrupt firmware. You need to have a utility that restore the mp3 player to its original setting. i had exactly the same problem with my ipod shuffle 1st generation 2 years ago. Good thing Apple has that utility for me to download and until no it is still working. Try to visit and upgrade the firmware using this link for you mp3 player http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=192

Error??

Try using this it worked for my m4002a. It's the firmware update software.

http://download.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads/autoupdater.exe

After downloading that just follow the instructions that pop-up with the program.

Mine wouldn't do anything before i tried this and afterwards it's been working without a problem.
