Question about Apple iTunes

I cannot import a cd

Everytime I open up my Itunes a little notice appears that says

the registry settings used by the Itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. this can happen as a result of installing other cd burning hardware. please reinstall Itunes.

I have not installed any other cd burning hardware and I have tried reinstalling Itunes many times and it does not work. I have a Compaq HP computer but I doubt that has any affect on what is wrong since my itunes used to function properly.

Try totally uninstalling this program (not deleting) then do a fresh install. This should recitfy this problem.

Hope this helps

How do you import CDs into iTunes?

Copy music from a CD to iTunes by following these steps:
  1. Insert a music CD into your computer. Notice that iTunes opens automatically.
  2. In the list that appears, use the checkboxes to select or deselect the songs you want to import. Songs that are selected will be imported.
  3. After you've selected the songs you want to import, click the Import button. iTunes will begin copying the music from your CD to your iTunes music library.
  4. After the songs are imported, click the Eject Disk button.
  5. Select Library in the Source list to view all the music in your iTunes library, including the songs you just imported.

iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.

> 1. Make sure iTunes isn't running.
2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter.
3. Navigate to this Registry location:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
4; Its better you clean/repair Windows registry with RegInOut.
4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry.
5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!

Itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs missing where can i get them? Bill

It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

Hope This Help You

ITunes registry error/CD-DVD not being recognized

I had the same problem with iTunes and installing the GEAR driver fixed it. If the drive itself is disappearing then the problem is probably more than iTunes. Try updating the actual CD driver at the Dell Support Page then install the GEAR driver again.
