Yeah it can be a corrupted OS. Then you can easily repair-install it or re-install it. But first don't go for the OS, the first thing that should be checked that the Firmware of the phone is properly upgraded to its upgraded kind. It may be out-dated. If it ever gets out-dated, it can stop the Laptop from booting due to security reasons.
