Question about Computers & Internet
This is the error message for a defective hard drive

Running your drive with a faulty power cable is certainly a good way to attempt to destroy it.
Take the drive to a helpful computer dealer near you (preferably one who sells that model), and ask if they have another cable you can try on it right there at their shop.)
ask around. You may also be able to find someone at your workplace who owns a similar drive and you can have them try it while you watch.
If your drive has a standard AC adapter plug on the back, then try using a normal AC adapter on it, but be sure you have the voltage and negative or positive side set correctly first.
If other cables work, it might still be best to order the proper one.
In the event that you can't order another through a local dealer, contact the Internet site of your Hard Drive company and inquire about the cost of another cable.

Might not even be the drive, could also be the casing that the hard drive is enclosed in. If by chance you have a friend with the same one, you can plug into thiers, and see if it works. If it does? just buy a different casing for it ball park $30 - 40. Put it in there and you are on your way. Make sure it is past it's warranty period before you take it apart tho.
Hope this helps
