Acer eRecovery

At the Acer splash screen, you can press Alt and F10 (at the same time you would press F2 to enter the BIOS) to bring up a DOS style version of eRecovery.
· The unit is able to reload Windows from this mode faster then from CD.
· The password by default is 000000 (6 zeros) and it is displayed when you are asked for the password.
· Users are able to change the password in this mode for eRecovery only.
· The system can recover from the hidden image on the hard drive (PQService partition) or from CD/DVD media.
· It is possible to reload from the factory style CDs/DVD or the snapshots that the Windows version of eRecovery creates.

Alt + F10 should bring you into the eRecovery partition to allow you to reinstall the operating system.

I WANT TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETINGS

If by restore to factory settings you mean reinstall operation system ..you need either a recovery partition or disk ..to use ..or a boot-able disk with the operation system ..
if you have teh recovery partition just press teh key indicated on start for recovery and boot from the partition and proceed for recovery ..or insert the disk ..restart and press any key when asked for to confirm boot from cd ..and proceed with the recovery ..(same way for boot-able disk )
In case it does not boot from disk ..you need to press f12 on start to get to boot menu and select the cd and press enter to force boot from disk ..confirm by any key and go on ..
If you don't have any recovery ..try to borrow or buy or make a boot-able disk ..and install the operation from it ..either by changing boot order in bios or by pressing F12 on start with the disk inside ..select boot from disk and enter ...again press any key to confirm ..and follow instructions ..If you do not know how to do it ..and you are ready to do it anyway...follow one of my services ..and I will guide you by remote assistance to make a disk ..and after that find a way to guide you trough the installing (probably messenger )

Myy Sony Viao desktop has error 106 and can't start up.

Sounds like you need to do a restore to your laptop. Turn the laptop off. Push the power button and then hold the alt key down while tapping the F10 key. This should put you into the recovery mode. Note: That doing a system restore will result in the loss of any data you've added to your computer since you've had it. That includes, pictures, music, files and folders as well as installed applications.

If the Alt+F10 doesn't work, that is-bring up the restore mode- you should have a rescue disk that was either provided by Sony at the time of purchase or that you made yourself when you first got the laptop. Insert the disk into the CD drive while the computer is powered on. Then reboot. You may have to set the boot order to boot from CD. When you boot the computer try the F12 key...if that's not the correct one, reboot and try the F2 key. This should give you a menu that allows you to choose which device the computer reads and boots from first. Good luck!

Please let me know if this helps and if you need more help please don't hesitate to ask.

How do i use my recovery disk? i put disk 1 in and then restarted the computer ad nothing happened.

Hi,

Before you try to restore the computer with CD, I would advise to try to restore through partion you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Altgr" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Altgr+f10 or Alt+F10 (try both), it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

If the above steps fails, then try with Recovery CD. to do so, insert the System Disk (CD1), turn Off the computer, now as soon as you turn ON the computer keepon tapping F12, it will give an option for CD/DVDROM, select CD/DVD ROM or USB DVDROM and follow the onscreen instructions.

Thanks and regards,
