Capacitor The TV was plugged in, the wife said she heard a sizzling coming from it, she unplugged it. When I plugged it up, same noise. The power would come on, but it would sizzle, and smell like burnt wire. I opened the back up, if your facing the TV from the back, on the left hand side, there is a circuit board. There is a little grey capacitor on that board that has burned up, and I?m pretty sure it?s messed that whole board up. What I need is a whole new board... anyone know how I go about getting a whole new board? What is the part number on that board? Like I said, if you?re standing behind the TV, and you open the lower access panel, it?s the board on the left hand side. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.Jason [email protected]

U have to get the yx number of the back.. model d52w10 and then it ussally has something like yx1 next to it. then the board you need is a deflection board. not easy to replace.. depending on the model they can be as much as 350 or as little as 50.

When turning on the machine it makes a sizzling noise

"Sizzling noise" does not sound good! Your description makes me think of the sound of electronical short. Unplug it and don't run it again until you've taken it to a repair shop who can look at it. It's also possible, though the sound is different than a sizzling sound, that there's a capacitor or other electronic part going out on it. Anyway you look at it a sewing machine should not be making any strange noises like that!

I own a GE 31gt740 and I heard a squealing noise a few times, but TV still worked. Then, I turned it on one day, heard the squealing noise, then saw a little smoke, some crackling, and no sound or picture....

I think that the problem of your tv is the flyback transformer. The noise you are hearing is the high voltage, it is leaking from the flyback transformer. The smoke you see may came from the flyback or the capacitor. To be sure to the problem, try to remove the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug it. Try to plug it, then turn on your tv but you should turn of the light so you could see the high voltage that is leaking but be very careful when doing it.

My tv made a loud noise like a vacuum them a high pitch noise and now it wont turn on unless I keep flicking the surge protector on and off.It wont even work when plugged directly into the outlet.

Power supply...The vacuum sound you heard was a capacitor failing. A capacitor stores energy for later use. For example, you turn on your TV, seconds later you hear a "Woosh" and the picture comes up. This is your tv's capacitor discharging. It's a simple fix if you know electronics though I wouldnt recommend repairing this yourself. There are several capacitors inside your TV. Though not fatal, they can give you a jolt. Call a repair man. I hope this helps : )

Plugged in freezer after standing 3 days unplugged compressor ino

That sizzling noise i suspect is either the compressor overload or start capacitor burning out .
You need to look in connection box on side of compressor, the relay should just pull off once cover is off.BEWARE even with the freezer unplugged there is a charged capacitor connected inside this box and will give you a nasty shock should you touch it! with insulated pliers touch all terminals to each other and earth to make sure capacitor is discharged .You should be able to get astart capacitor and overload from local repair shop there not expensive if this doesn't fix it the compressor is possibly locked up and will need replacing

TV on, sizzling sound, smell smoke, picture goes out but TV still on

It could be any number of components on the main board/power board which could be frying..But if you are hearing a sizzling sound, it could be something probably like a capacitor or the board itself. Difficult to say unless it is opened. First thing, though, is unplug the TV from the mains as a precaution against fire.
Since you are a technical guy, it shouldn't take you long to figure out what the components are thats burning. However, if your TV is under warranty, I advise against opening up the set as that will void your warranty. However, if its not under warranty, go ahead and open up the set and see what components need replacement, or replace the whole power board itself (if you are comfortable with electronic soldering/desoldering).

Cheers!

Green Timer lights blinks for about 10 sec. Then Lamp light, then nothing

Definitely sounds like a power supply problem. Check with your local TV repair/service center about getting it repaired or replaced.
