The feed roller is probably needing cleaned or replaced in your printer. By having a maintenance cleaning by a certified technician this should fix your problem.

Hp 7310 does notbrecognize new color printer cart.

  1. Press the Setup button.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select Tools and then press the OK button.
  3. Select Clean Print Cartridge and then press OK . The device prints a test page.
  4. Examine the test page. If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the print quality is bad, go on to the next step for further cleaning.
  5. Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
    • Open HP Director , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
    • If the HP Director method does not work, open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel , then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties . Click on Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
  6. The Printer Toolbox opens. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning are available.
  7. Discard or recycle the page that prints.
If still having problems, swap out the cartridge.
Hope this helps
Regards

Vertical lines (no printing) on copy

Make sure you have visited the HP web site for the OfficeJet 7310 (it's not the 10xi model, is it?)

Check out the page on troubleshooting copying problems.

See if your vertical lines issue is addressed on this page.

Printing is crooked on the page...otherwise prints beautifully

Sounds like the print head / ink cartridge is not seated all the way. Open the door and check it. It also may be the wrong print head / ink cartridge. If you replaced the print head / ink cartridge recently, you may have the wrong one for your device. If it is a off brand or refilled print head / ink cartridge it may be damaged or incorrectly identified.
