Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook

1 Answer

My mouse pad is out of control. It has become impossible to type, as my curser is constantly being hijacked to random sections of the text. I have had this laptop for almost two years, and this is a recent development. It is horribly frustrating...and destructive to productivity!

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62. When typing anywhere, the cursor randomly jumps to another spot in the text and continue inserting text there. How do I correct this?

This typically happens when the typist's palms touch the touchpad, which the pad treats as a mouse click. See if the cursor is jumping to where the pointer is.
Most touchpads have a control panel (usually part of the MOUSE Control Panel) where you can reduce the sensitivity (or disable) the left click function from tapping the touchpad.

Pavilion DV4000 has always done this. While typing, randomly will jump up a couple of lines and the text will be typed in a sentence above the current line being typed... Does this make sense ?

You might be brushing the touch pad with your palms when typing. Some hp's have a little bar above the pad to turn it off while typing. The other option is to go into mouse under control pannel and look for a sensitivity adjustment.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook computer curser "jumps around"

I frequently have the same thing when using a Dell laptop. The problem MAY be with the touch pad. Without noticing it, my thumb touches the pad and away goes the cursor!

So try this: Open the control panel and go to mouse. Look at the top for Touchpad. There is a setting in there for sensitivity. Reduce the setting so that you need to apply more pressure on the touch pad to move the cursor. Test it a few times to make sure it is still functional before closing the control panel. Then try typing something in a word processor and see if it is any better.

Good luck, and please let me know if this helps.

I have trouble when typing. The letters skip all over text.

Do you have a small button on the top side of the touch pad that will allow you to turn off the mouse? I bet that you are accidently touching the mouse pad with your thumb while you are typing, and this is causing your problem. I have the same problem if I do not turn off the touch pad on my laptop.

Good luck, and please rate me, OK?

How can I stop my curser from jumping around whilst typing ?

Hello
Most probably because your 'Touch Pad Mouse' is touched by your palm (hand or something) while you are typing. Avoid contact with the mouse touch pad while typing.
Option 2:
If you have a centre moveable mouse on your laptop, start using it and disable the 'Touch pad mouse'
Best of luck!
