Samsung impression touchscreen is not working. no water damage

Hello,

The reason your phones touch screen is not working is simply because there is a problem with the sensor board of your phone.

The sensor board is operated by the flex of the phone.so replacement of the flex will do the job.

Some times, this could also be a software problem.

First, try to flash the phone with the appropriate software and cable.

If flashing the phone does not work, Then you have to replace the flex of the phone, to replace the flex of the phone, follow the process below;
  1. Get the appropriate screwdriver,
  2. Remove the battery cover, battery and sim.
  3. Unscrew the screws you see there,
  4. Carefully disconnect the ribbons you see,
  5. Use a flat object like a credit card, run it around the line that goes round the lower part of the phone to split it in 2 separate parts,
  6. Remove the camera and speaker,
  7. Lift off the board of the phone and disconnect the ribbon that is in the middle of the board,
  8. Remove the iron that is by both ends of the phone (the irons support the phone in sliding up and down),
  9. Unscrew the case that carries the screen,
  10. Run a credit card along the line of the upper part of the phone like you did to the lower part of the phone.
  11. Unscrew the green panel you see.
  12. Disconnect the ribbon you see in the middle of the panel like you did to the main board of the phone.
  13. Replace this ribbon you disconnected and reverse the process to reassemble the phone.
Take care

How do you make my screen work? All the buttons work just not the screen buttons

Hello,

The reason your screen wont work is because there is a problem with the flexi ribbon that connects the screen to the panel of the phone.

To fix the screen, you would have to dismantle the phone and replace the flexi ribbon.

To disassemble your phone, you have to follow the process below;
  1. Get the appropriate screwdriver(Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.),
  2. Remove your battery cover, your battery, your sim and your memory card,
  3. Remove the four screws you can see.
  4. Peel back the sticker. You may need something with a thin, sharp point to peel the sticker back (samsungmobile.com). Two rubber stoppers need to be levered out to reveal two more screws that must be removed.
  5. Run your plastic tool along the join of the battery compartment to separate the phone into two halves. Next you need to disconnect the ribbon. This attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift the connector up, away from the circuit board to unplug it. Remove the screw by the left. You can now lift the green circuit board away from the phone. A little force is required.
  6. You should now have the circuit board removed. Note that a ribbon, will have disconnected when you removed the circuit board. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket.
  7. Remove the identification sticker. Remove the volume button which will be loose. The buttons underneath will be lightly stuck to the side of the phone and need to be peeled away. Lever off the grey part.
  8. Remove the four screws you have access to (one is under the ribbon cable).
  9. You should now be able to separate the phone into two parts. Two rubber stoppers need to be levered out to reveal two screws. Remove these plus the two others screws you see.
  10. Run your credit card around the join of the housing to release it. Once you have the two parts separated as far as shown below, pull in the upward direction (towards the camera).
  11. Pull the little metal bars in the direction of the camera.
  12. Lever out the camera, speaker and ringer. They'll be stuck down with double sided tape. Lever out the the screen. Slide your plastic tool under the green circuit board to release the LCD screen.
  13. You should now have the LCD screen removed,
  14. Turn the screen over. Remove the green tape at the top. Now release the circled ribbons. To do so, flick the black latches up and then pull each ribbon away.
  15. That is the ribbon that needs replacement.
  16. Reverse the process to reassemble the phone back together.
Take care

Often freezes-solved by sliding phone up and down several times restarts itself 3 buttons on keypad no longer work

Hi,the problem you are experiencing is as a result of a faulty flex connector cable,it's bad hence it can send signals properly from the board to the screen which results to freezing of the phone. The solution is to replace the flex cable.
Here is a detailed solution to assist you in disassembling your phone and replacing the flex conn. cable;
1.Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Remove the four screws you see behind the phone.

2.Run your plastic tool e.g credit card, around the join of the battery compartment to release it.
3.You will see a connector ,it needs to be disconnected. Just flick the black latch up and pull the ribbon out.

4.Now remove the two screws on the upper edge of the phone. Both screws will be covered with red stickers.
5.Now move the slide down and remove the three screws you can see.
6.Lift the circuit board to the side slightly to reveal a ribbon attached to the underside. The connector attaches like a plug and socket. Just lever it away from the circuit board to unplug.

7.Pull the slider down to access four more screws. Remove these. Now run your fingernail or your plastic tool around the join of the front cover. This will release the clips which hold it in place. The cover will still be attached near the top of the phone so don't try and force it off .

8.The camera cover should now be loose. Remove the two screws you can see. You can now remove the front cover.
9.With the front cover removed ,the navigation pad and the part that holds this in place will come away with the cover
10.Pull the screen away from the rest of the phone. The c connectors needs to be released. For each, flick the black latch up where the ribbon enters and pull the ribbon out.
11. You now need to separate the LCD and touch screen. To do so you need to slide something flat and thin (the edge of a guitar plectrum would be best) between the LCD and touch screen. Try to follow the dotted line and try not to push your plastic tool too far under the touch screen or you'll get a sticky residue on the underside of it. Applying some heat with a hair dryer may help loosen the touch screen.

12.You should now have the LCD screen and touch screen separated. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

Thanks and take care

Hello,

The reason the call button stopped working is as a result of a problem affecting the flex of the phone.

The flex is the cable that assist the information from the panel to reach the screen.

Volume buttons won't work, camera button wont work, and speakerphonew button wont work. Happened out of nowhere. Cannot lower/raise volume on side of phone, only vibrate works.

Hello.
Welcome to Fixya's Community.
These problems HAve been related to a damaged flex cable.

This is the cable which in the U700 connect the lower part of the phone to the lcd part (with the screen, speaker, camera and touchscreen buttons). All the data such as screen images, camera pictures, speaker sounds pass through this cable from the main board which is located in the lower part of the phone.

Unfortunately, each time one opens the phone, the cable slides between the two part of the phone. In the long term, as the cable is thin and soft and this movement causes frictions between the cable and the parts, the cable consumes itself. the damage of the cable could results in weird effects on the phone.

In order to fix that you need to replace that part.
its easy.
just take the phone apart and locate the flex cable and replace it.
believe me you can do it yourself.
  • The Flex cable of your phone cost 3 $
  • A phone repair shop will fix that for 25 $

see if you can find it on eBay.
remember its SCH-U700 Not SGH-U700 there is a big difference.

Good Luck

How to repair broken hinge of my Verizon LG Vx8350

I was able to take apart a VX8350 I have with a broken screen. I don't see any way to replace just the hinges with replacing the whole top part of the phone including the screen. The ribbon cable from the screen runs through the hinge part into the main assembly of the phone. It appears the cable can't be removed without cutting it.

Remove battery cover and battery. There are four small screws visible on the rear cover, remove those. Wiggle and distort the back cover a little at the bottom of the phone until it pull partly free from the phone, slide a guitar pick or small flat blade screwdriver between the phone and the rear cover, at the side of the phone, pry this cover off until it snaps free. You will see the main board now. Remove the two screws holding this board on, carefully fold it back towards the battery area. The main ribbon cable is visible now. Remove a green tape on the socket where the ribbon cable joins the board. pull the ribbon away from the board gently and use a screwdriver or something else to cut the adhesive between the board and the cable. The socket has a hinged brown piece closest to where the cable comes in, that flips up to release the cable. The small cable coming from the number pad is removed by gently prying up the rectangular connector from the board. Now with the board free you can remove six screws from the plastic backing plate, and remove that plate from the slider assembly (one of the screws is hidden by a piece of green tape). On the front half of the phone there are six small screws on the rear side (the camera side). Four are visible, two are hidden behind rubber plugs at the top of the phone. Separate the chrome trim from the backing plate by starting at the bottom of the phone, by the key pad, and it may be stuck from a little day-to-day dirt but separate it there, then swing the bottom end out and release the front cover from the two clips that hold the top end together. You now can separate the ribbon cable from the screen assembly in a similar way as you did with the other end of the cable. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. Be sure to replace the pieces of tape, and the wire mesh shield attached to them, they serve to prevent radio frequency interference between parts of this device, and between this device and others.

Good luck, and happy dreams.
