There is a short DIY method. If you get to the back of the fridge, you will see the compressor. Above the compressor is a drain pipe or a small outlet that should drain directly into the pan positioned on top of the compressor. If you are able to physically blow into the pipe hard, it should clear the blockage in the line. Water will then flow again. (no blockage). If no pipe is there, push a separate pipe into that hole as far as you can, then blow. once cleared things should be back to normal. It could be beneficial if at some time, you defrosted the fridge and cleaned the sedimentation that came out of the hole.

SOURCE: need to remove drip pan

Hi, This pan can not be removed without taking the whole frame apart. Best thing is to try and get a long brush (hardware stores sell them) and try and clean it that way.
Using very hot water might help loosen the grime in the pan.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello, You will be unable to remove the drip pan since it is built in, use a curtain wire, push it down the hole..theres not alot of space but can be done until you feel the clog clear...if it's still iced up use some hot water to defrost the ice before you get to the clog..once you think you got it pour some water down the drain to test it's clear. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

How do i remove a drip pan from a kenmore refrigerator

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.

Instructions
Rear Access

1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.

2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.

3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Front Access

4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.

5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.

6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Condensation water does not leave pan when it gets full you can hear the water being picked up and thrown around in the unit. There is no water flowing either inside or outside unit.

What you hear is an indication that the drain hole in the drip pan is clogged. Check the outside of the bottom of the drip pan. The hole may be hard to locate, as the clog can blend in with the drain hole. It may take patience & persistence to find it. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the hole. And while you're at it, check the downward tilt of the rear of the unit. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" downward tilt. This will help to water to flow to the rear of the drip pan and out thru the drain hole.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Where is fedders 5000 btu drain plug

If you have a window unit or thru the wall unit, Drain Hole is located under the drip pan at near the rear of the unit. It may be difficult to find if it is clogged. As the clog will blend in wit the hole.

Hope this helps you locate it. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Haier Air Conditioner window unit that is leaking inside the house. What are some possible causes and solutions?

There are basically 2 causes:

1. The rear of the AC unit is not tilted down enough, so that water in the drip pan flows to the drain hole in the rear of the drip pan. The general rule of thumb for rear downward titl is 1/4" to 1/2".

2. The drain hole in the drip pan, near the rear of the unit is clogged. Locating the clogged hole can be a challenge, as the clog will blend in with the drain hole. Patience & persistence are needed in locating it. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the clog from the hole.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Window a/c unit is emitting an amonia smell. Someone said this is a mold and mildew problem. I have noticed it is not draining out the back now either. How can I fix this problem?

Well, Steve your friends may be right. Coupled with the fact the drip pan is not draining as it should.
This is caused by 2 things: The drain hole in the drip pan near the rear of the unit is clogged and/or the rear of the unit is not tilted down enough to allow the water to flow to the drain hole. The general rule of thumb for downward tilt is 1/4" to 1/2".

The drain hole can can be hard to find at times, as the clog will blend in with the drain hole. Patience & persistence is required to locate it. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the clog.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My air conditioner is leaking water from the front side just below the control panel....what is causing this?

2 things generally cause this.

1. The rear of the unit is not tilted down enough for the water to flow to the drain hole in the drip pan.. 1/4' to 1/2" tilt is the general rule of thumb.

2. The drain hole at the rear of the drip pan is clogged and needs to be cleared. It can be hard to find, as the clog will blend in with the drain. Use a pipe cleaner to clear the clog.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Leaking problem coming into the house

If your AC unit is a window or thru the wall unit, the problems lies either with a clogged drain hole in the drain pan and/or the rear outside part of the unit is not tilted down enough, It should be tilted down 1/4" to 1/2". The drain hole is on the outside part of the unit, under the drain pan. It can be hard to locate at times, as the clog blends in with the drip pan. Be persistent, look closely and you'll find it. AS pipe cleaner or something similar (No wire Coat Hangers) can be used to clear the clog.

I hope this helps you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

There is water in the pan in the attic of the York 80 unit. The drain line that goes out from the unit, outside appears to be clear. What next?

The condesate drain is clogged, most of the time they clog at the trap close to the furnace. You need to clear the clog and clean the drain line and drip pan if you can get to it.

Water droping

Your drain pan is not draining. Use a wet vac to **** the drain line from the outside. This will pull out the blockage and you're back in business. Do not blow compressed air into the drain. This pushes the blockage back up into the drain pan.
