Patio heater Unit pilot will light - no problem, but when switch is turned to low, pilot goes out.

The unit is an Endless Summer gas heater. After taking the metal cover housing some wires off, we were able to unscrew the mounting for the jet for the pilot light. When the compressed air from one of those cannes hit the tip, we saw some debris fly from it. After reassembly it worked great. Whole operation took about 20 minutes.

    Thanks for your help, Bryan..

Glad I could be of assistance and great the heater is working. Now you have done one they are all pretty similar so if you have others you usually do it the same or similar way. Thanks for letting me know.

Hi larryalaska,

Sounds like you have a blockage to the main jet. If you have a compressor just blow the jet out from the top and with a bit of luck it will clear it. If not you may need to remove the outer covering and find the pipe to the main jet and again using compressed air just blow it out. Usually not much goes wrong with these apart from blockages every now and then and most of the servicing places just blow them out with compressed air. Just make sure if you remove a pipe you tighten the pipe up properly when re-fitting it. Hope this helps

I have a Kirkland patio heater model # PTH-106SS-3G the pilot will not stay lit. Do I need to replace the whole pilot assembly

Hi, If the pilot light goes out when you turn the gas knob to full power on lighting them the most likely cause will be a worn thermocouple, these usually last between 2 years up to 6 years. Found this site very helpful, patio heater problem solving. They have a few solutions to checking patio heaters.

I have afrontgate propane patio heater and the pilot lights but when I try to put it into position to warm it goes out and will not stay lite.

Most common problem is a worn thermocouple, this will cause the pilot to light but go out when turned to full. There can be other issues but start by changing the thermcouple as these generally last between 2 to 6 years. If it still has problems check the tilt switch by shorting it out, found this site very useful, patio heater problem solving.

Pilot on my patio heater will not stay lit. goes out when i release the knob

If the heater is the same as this type of patio heater and it lights on pilot and goes out it is generally a worn thermocouple. These are designed to switch off the patio heater when something is wrong, changing one fixed 90% of the problems. Sometimes it can also be caused by a worn tilt switch but always start with the most likley and work backwards. Found this site very useful, patio heater problem solving page.

Pilot will light, but will not switch over to high or low....when you let up on the pilot button the pilot goes out

this heater is similar to a water heater. It has a thermocouple and they go bad. Before you replace it, check to see that the end of the thermocouple is in the pilot flame. If it is, the thermocouple may be bad. this is more likely than the gas valve being bad. they are usually very reliable because of the high liability issues related to them

Charmglow gas patio heater

Your thermocoupler seems at fault. The thermocoupler is that probe that sits in the pilot flame. It controls the main fuel valve. Make sure that probe is in the pilot flame, better at the tip of the flame and hold the button down for a minute or so after lighting the pilot. If pilot extinguishes, the coupler is faulty. If pilot stays on the heater should fire up when you let up on the pilot button.. Good luck

Windchaser patio heater

You have to hold the button down for 30 seconds at least before turning the knob to ON. If you are doing this and it still goes out after you let up on the knob, then it needs a new flame sensor, or thermocouple. Same thing different names.
